Mer., gent., and William Griffith Lewis, arbitrators appointed to settle disputes between William ap Robert ap Edward, his mother Lowry verch Tudyr, widow, and William ap Hugh: (i) William ap Robert and his mother are to have the upper part of the house called Y Ty Yn Llwyn Gronow Abad, [? p. Llanddwywe]; (ii) William ap Hugh in consideration of 10s. and the working of a stone wall in the 'midst' of the said house to have the lower part wherein he now dwells. Attested copy.

Arbitration Award of Reynald ap John Wyn, Roger Jones, Richard ap Edward and Mores ap Ieuan ap Lle'nn, otherwise Mores Evans, gent., arbitrators appointed to settle a dispute between William ap John ap Lle'nn, demandant, and Mauld verch Morgan, widow, and Humffrey Gruffythe her base son, defendants, concerning the title to a tmt called Tythyn yn y Gelly, t. Llannerchemrys, [p. Llansanffraid-ym-mechain], co. Mont., which tmt Gruff' ap Ieuan ap Gruff', dec., and Edward ap Gruff his son bargained and sold to the said William and mortgaged to the said Mauld for £9.13.4. Arbitrators award that: (i) the said William has the better title to the said m.; and (ii) the said William to pay the said Mauld the sum of £9 13s. 4d.

Arbitration Award of Richard ap Gruffith, rector of Darrowen, co. Mont., arbitrator appointed to settle disputes between Griffith ap G'lm ap Gruff' of Keveiliog, gent., and Robert ap Gruff' ap G'lm, Moris ap Gruff' ap G'lm, Lewes ap Ho'ell Wyn ap Gruff ap G'lm and Richard ap Ho'ell Wyn ap Gruff ap G'lm, concerning the lands of Gruff' ap G'lm, dec., grandfather of the said Gruffith, Lewis and Richard and father of the said Robert and Moris: (i) the said Griffith to have out of the lands of his late grandfather a tmt called Gwern y Bulche [p. Cemais], a 'havodle ultra montem' and two tmt's called Tyddyn y Kevloyn, otherwise Yr Eskeiar Goch, and Y Bryn Moyle; (ii) the said Robert, Moris, Lewes and Richard to have the remainder of the lands; (iii) the said Robert in consideration of certain buildings erected by the said Griffith on the share of the premises awarded in (ii) to pay him £4.

Arbitration Award of Richard Lloyd of Llwyn y Maen, gent., and John Gruff' ap Hugh of Maescruck, gent., arbitrators appointed to settle disputes between David Hanmer of Bryn, Shropshire, gent., and Thomas ap Howell now or late of Sowthwarke, Surrey, glover, concerning the title to four parcels of land in t. Bryn, [p. Llanyblodwel], Shropshire, lying in a field called Mays Penn Y Lann containing about the seeds of four bushells of corn of Oswestrie measure. They award: (i) the said D.H. to peacefully possess the said parcels for eight years; (ii) the said D.H. to deliver to Thomas ap Howell all the deeds relating to the said parcels; (iii) the said Thomas to peacefully possess the premises after the said eight years.

Articles Of Agreement being a Deed Of Separation of 1 and 3: (i) 1 to pay to 2 to the use of 3 £50 payable quarterly until 1 should invite 3 to cohabit with him again; (ii) 1 will pay to 3 to the use of 2 as a free gift £10 provided that 3 does not misbehave herself towards 1 during her stay in Hereford which shall not exceed 3 or 4 months the said sum of £10 to be paid or withdrawn yearly by 1 depending upon the good behaviour of 3 and the character which 2 shall give her; (iii) provided that 2 shall choose for 3 such place for her residence during their separation and shall certify every quarter if required where the residence is and that it is chosen with 2's consent; (iv) provided also that if 3 should be found enseint or be convicted of incontinency, or if she shall keep company with any suspected person whom 2 shall forbid then this agreement to be null and void; (v) 1 to pay the £10 free gift to the Rev. Patrick Gordon to the use of 3 in order to encourage her to keep within her allowance and to prevent any excuse of contracting debts for her subsistence; (vi) provided that 3 confesses all debts owed by her; (vii) provided that before payment of each quarterly allowance 3 to specify what debts she has contracted within the said quarter so that the same may be paid out of the allowance; (viii) proviso that if 3 shall prove extravagant and within a quarter contract debts greater than her quarterly allowance then the agreement is null and void; (ix) 3 will not during the separation behave undutifully or disrespectfully towards 1 and will not reside anywhere without the consent of 2 nor frequent company which he shall forbid.

Articles Of Agreement between 1 and 2 being the younger sons of John Pugh of Cefngoed, gent., dec.: (i) 1 to have peaceful possession of a m. called Tu Cwtta and parcels of land called Cae Dan y Tu, otherwise Cae Tu Cwtta, Y Ddau Coed Cae, Y Ffrith Ucha and Wern Goch, t. Dyffrydan, [p. Brithdir and formerly in p. Dolgellau - cf. DA502-3, 505-6]; (ii) 2 to have peaceful possession of a m. called Y Tyddyn Du and parcels of land belonging called Cae yr Tu, Y Coed, Y Wern Fain, Y Wern Gron, Y Wern Fawr, Y Comons Bach, Cae yr Parke and Ffrith Issa, t. Dyffrydan; (iii) mutual covenants for the production of title deeds; (iv) 1 and 2 bound each in £200 for the performance of the above articles. Recites that John Pugh in the names of 1, 2 (called John Pugh the younger in some of the purchase deeds) and Lewis Jones, another yonger son of the said J.P., now dec., purchased the premises from Lewis Pugh [= Lewis ap Hugh in some of the deeds, e.g., DA398, 414-16], and that by his will, dated 1 Oct. 1713, J.P. devised Tu Cwtta to 1 and Y Tyddyn Du to 2.

1 Anne Thelwall of Place Coch, co. Denb., widow, executor of the will of John Thelwall of the same, esq., her late husband, dec. 2 Ambrose Thelwall of the university of Oxford, esq., son and heir apparent of the said John Thelwall. Articles Of Agreement between 1 and 2: (i) 1 covenants to relinquish possession to 2 of one of the two mansion houses called Place Coch and Nathavern, otherwise Llanrith, co. Denb., as 2 shall select, 1 taking her jointure from other lands nearest the other house which 2 shall not choose, and shall also deliver the old plate and other goods of value, as she shall think fit, out of those left to her by the will of her late husband; (ii) 1 covenants to yield all the real estate of her late husband to 2 discharged from raising portions of £5,000; and (iii) 2 covenants to pay £3,700 to 1 as portions for Jane and Eubule Thelwall, Anne the eldest daughter having already married and received her portion, according to the codicil of her late father. Articles Of Agreement between 1 and 2: (i) 1 to convey the equity of redemption of m's called Glan y Werne and Y Garth Fach, p. Llanegryn, which m's 1 has already bargained and sold to 2; (ii) in consideration of (i) 2 to allow £80 out of the sum of money now due and owing by 1 to 2; (iii) further assurance by 1 of the premises specified in (i) and 1 to remain tenant for 4 years; (iv) H.H. covenants to mortgage a m. called Pantllwyfog for whatever some of money that he owes 2 and his mother Elizabeth Owen; (v) 2 becomes bound to 1 in £400 to perform (i)-(iii).

Articles Of Agreement between 1 and 2: (i) John ap Morgan shall bring his brother William Morgan and the wife of the said William to join with 1 in levying a fine on two tmt's called Kefn Gellgwm and Ty Yr Defed, p. Trawsvynyth, to enure to the uses specified in DA80; (ii) 2 to pay by next St Andrewstide £20 to Edmund Pryce and Robert Lloyd to be tendered to Thomas Poole for the redemption of a tmt called Kae'r Voyl, [p. Trawsfynydd], and after such payment 2 is to have his bond wherein he is bound for the said £20; (iii) John ap Morgan to pay 13s.4 towards levying the said fine; (iv) that in case Morgan ap John ap Morgan [see DA80] and Katherine his wife will be willing within seven years to dwell in Trawsfynydd 2 will give them 40 'beasts of three sorts according to the custom of the countrey for marriage goods', 80 sheep, two feather beds, two flock bedsteads and one other bed. 1 Chester and Holyhead Railway Co. 2 William Watkin Edward Wynne of Mount Sion, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, esq. Articles Of Agreement following injuries sustained by 2 after falling off the bridge of 1 over the river Dee in May 1847 and prior to an action about to be commenced by 2 against 1 even though 1 claim that the party on whom damages ought ultimately to fall is the Shrewsbury and Chester Railway Co.: (i) 1 to advance 2 £68; (ii) 2 shall not sue 1 for the said injuries; (iii) 2 shall prosecute the Shrewsbury and Chester Railway Co. for compensation; (iv) 1 to indemnify 2 against all costs sustained by the said action; and (v) 1 shall have on the judgement and on any money that may be recovered a lien for the repayment of the said sum of £68 and of all costs that may be incurred by them.

Flint, spinster, 25 July 1716, for £2,600, a mortgage from Thomas Warburton and Anne his wife to 1, 26 July 1717, for £4,000, of a moiety of their estate in co. Caern, and a further mortgage of the same for £1,500 on 22 May 1720, making altogether £8,100.
