Llyfr croniclau John Jones, Gellilyfdy

Transcripts made between 1604 and 1608 by John Jones, Gellilyvdy, of Welsh chronicles and pseudo-historical texts, with short prefaces and indexes to the three sections of the manuscript also written by John Jones. The first section contains an incomplete version of 'Y Beibl Ynghymraeg', i.e., a Welsh translation of the 'Promptuarium Bibliae' attributed to Petrus Pictaviensis (see Thomas Jones: Y Bibyl Ynghymraeg . . . Cardiff, 1940), and 'Ystoria Daret'. The version of 'Y Bibyl Ynghymraeg' includes 'Ystoria Addaf ar Oes Gyntaf', beginning with the story of the creation and breaking off at the building of Babylon, and a short chronology from Adam to Noah and his descendants linking with 'Ystoria Daret'. The second part of the manuscript is a transcript of 'Brut y Brenhinedd', and the third is a text of 'Brut y Saeson' brought down to James I.
