Two volumes of miscellaneous transcripts mainly in the hand of Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain, 1761-1849), relating to the antiquities, history, topography, language, and literature of Wales. They include catalogues of Welsh manuscripts; transcripts of manuscripts of Evan Evans (Ieuan Brydydd Hir), of letters of Edward Lhuyd, Lewis Morris, Goronwy Owen, etc., of Strata Marcella abbey charters, of monumental inscriptions, of Evan Evans's transcripts of Richard Farrington's archaeological notes, etc.; notes on Llanerfyl, Llangadfan, and Garthbeibio, written by William Jones, Llangadfan, and sent by him, with letters, to Walter Davies; a letter, 1792, from Edward Williams (Iolo Morganwg) to Walter Davies; an extract, by Lewis Morris, from his Celtic Remains; Marwnad Lewis Morys ... by Goronwy Owen, in the autograph of Evan Evans; etc. Both volumes are indexed.

A late eighteenth and early nineteenth century manuscript of Thomas Davies containing medical recipes and prescriptions, notes on the treatment of diseases and on the virtues of herbs, and a few miscellaneous notes and extracts. The contents have been taken for the most part from printed sources but a few isolated prescriptions are ascribed to Jno. Morgans, surgeon, of St Davids, 1808 (p. 346) and Mr [Thomas] Jones, Neuaddfawr [Lampeter, Cardiganshire] (pp. 349, 357). Among some extraneous matter in the volume are 'Trioedd Offeiriaid' in 'triban' metre by Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg') (pp. 351-4) and a transcript of a Carmarthen Bank note, 1802. There is an incomplete index at the end of the volume.

A composite volume, originally owned by Owen Williams ('Owain Gwyrfai'), Waun-fawr, with copious insets, containing a folio (pp. [655]-656) from Baner Cymru, October 20 1858; a section ('Ordevices', cols 777-840) from William Camden: Britannia (? 1722 edition) with a map of North Wales by Robt. Norden (? from the 1695 edition); two keys to 'Coelbren y Beirdd', the one undoubtedly and the other probably in the hand of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'); extensive transcripts of Caernarfonshire and other North Wales pedigrees, mainly in the hands of Owen Williams and John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'); and imperfect notes relating to the history and endowments of the Free School, Dolgellau.

Glamorgan collectanea of William Davies, Cringell, near Neath, with genealogical lists, etc., by G. T. Clark. They include a certificate recommending David Davies, son of David Davis, Castell Hywel, 'to the Work of the Ministry among Protestant Dissenters'; a transcript, apparently from a transcript by Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'), of 'Achau ac Arfau Prif Fonedd y Cymru. Dadyscrif o Lyfr Dû Pant Lliwydd - Eiddo'r diweddar Mr. Thomas Truman, 1806'; 'Extracts from an old Genealogical Manuscript the property of Griffith Llewelyn Esqr of Baglan Hall which appears to have been written about the year 1584, and has the name of Thos Wilkins, LL.B of St. Mary Church written on one of the blank leaves'; genealogies of Glamorgan families; notes on the ecclesiastical history of Gwent and Morgannwg; notes on the natural history and topography of Glamorgan; biographies, including one of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'); notes on Glamorgan manors; notes on political history, etc.; and letters, 1803-4, to William Davies from his cousin R[ichard] Bevan, barrister-at-law, New Boswell Court, London.

An imperfect manuscript consisting mainly of a collection of Welsh poems in strict and free metres including poems by, or attributed to, Siôn Kent, Iolo Goch, Ieuan ap Rydderch ap Ieuan Llwyd, Iorwerth Vynglwyd, Taliessyn Benbeirdd, Twm ap Ifan ap Rhys, Tomas Lewys, Giles ap Siôn (one 'englyn' and ten 'cywyddau' numbered i-iii, v-xi), Mredydd ap Rosser, ? Hopkin Twm Ph'e, Davydd Benwyn, Thomas Brwynllys, William Dyvi, Siôn Mawddwy, Tomas Llywelyn Dyio Pwell 'or ygos ym Morgannwg', Davidd y Vann, Hwel D'd ap Ievan ap Rees, Ieyvan Daylwyn, Iefan ap Howel Swrdwal, Lewis Morgannwg, Meirig Dafydd, Sir Tho. Jones, Llywelyn ap Hwel ab Bifan, Dafydd ap Gwilim, Rys Nawmorr, Hvw Dwnn, and Ivan Dyfi. Included also are a copy of an English poem by Howel Swrdwal, a copy of a letter in Welsh from Ll[ywely]n Siôn [of Llangewydd, parish of Laleston, co. Glamorgan] to Wiliam Prys [of Briton Ferry], 27 July 1596 (see TLLM, t. 79; and L. J. Hopkin James and T. C. Evans: Hen Gwndidau . . . (Bangor, 1910), p. 278), and a prose item with the superscription 'Llyma friddwyd Gronw ddy ap Einon ab Add'. The volume is in several hands but the greater part is in the hand of one scribe possibly the Glamorgan poet Giles or Sils ap Siôn whose 'cywyddau' feature in the text (see TLLM, tt. 76, 87-92; and IMCY, t. 121). Ff. 18 recto-21 recto, excepting an 'englyn' and marginalia inserted later, are probably in the hand of the aforementioned Llywelyn Siôn [of Llangewydd]. The poems by Thomas Lewis (ff. 28 recto-verso, 82 verso), one of which is dated 1623, are possibly in the poet's own hand (see TLLM, tt. 87, 95). In the same hand, and possibly by the same poet, are the poems on ff- 56 recto, 58 verso, 79 recto, 92 recto. There is an inscription on the volume's previous cover (see note on binding) in the hand of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg') (see note below).

A manuscript, late 18 cent., in the hand of Edward Jones (Bardd y Brenin) (1752-1824) containing notes on Welsh historical and legendary figures and on places in Wales (pp. 1-2, 5, 6-8, 21, 22, 24, 31, 34, 37, 58-9, 60, 66, 68, 72, 73, 83, 85), poetry (pp. 3, 4, 35, 44, 49), a survey of Harlech Castle (pp. 9-20), a Latin prayer (p. 23), sketches (pp. 25, 64, 66, 68, 70, 74, 75, 84), epitaphs (pp. 34, 36), triads (pp. 82-3), copies of correspondence, 1626, between Bishop Hanmer and the rector and churchwardens of Llandderfel (pp. 76-7), together with other miscellaneous notes and accounts. Also included are poems by Edward Richard, Ystrad Meurig, William Moses ('neu Gwilim Tew, o Glyn Tâf'), Howel Prichard, Edward Evans, Ton Coch, Lewis Hopkin, William Harr[i], Llwyn-onn, William Davies (alias 'Wm. Dafydd Abercwmyfuwch, Gerllaw Pen y bont ar ogwr'), David Davis, Castell Hywel, Lewis Williams ('y Bardd Bach'), Jonathan Hughes, Huw Mor[y]s, Huw Gruffydd ('Gynt o Lwyn y brain Meirionydd'), John Jenkins ('Sion y Bardd bach Aberteifi'), Rees John, 'Weaver', John Howels, J. A composite volume of the period c. 1869-70, almost entirely in the hand of W[illiam] H[enry] Mounsey and containing miscellaneous extracts and fragments of transcripts of literary and historical texts, with copious annotations by the scribe. Among the contents are a collation of the printed text of Y Marchog Crwydrad (Y Brython, 1862, pp. 1-17, 138-52, 257-67, 361-74) with the text of Llanstephan MS 178; 'Iolo Morganwg's opinion of Lewis Morris'; an Irish-English glossary (part of letter A, 4 pp.); 'Prophwydoliaeth y Ddau Fuddugoliaeth a gant Hwch y Maran', with an English translation; 'Stabat Mater', with an English translation; 'englynion', 'cywyddau', etc. from a variety of sources, such as 'Llyfr Hir' and 'Llyfr Du' and manuscripts of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg') and David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri'), 'Llythyr at Dafydd Jones [Trefriw]' from John Pywel, Rhyd Eirin, Llansannan, 1766; etc. The spine is lettered 'Welsh Miscellanea - W.
