Llangadfan. Consideration: £493-12-0 for the assignment, with further mortgage for £56-8-0, making a total of £550, to be repaid with 4½% interest. Recites nos 288-9, that a common recovery was duly suffered, a further mortgage for £198-8-0 dated 6 Sept. 1756 reciting nos 288-9, that G. E. had defaulted in repayment of the £200 and interest, thus owing 1 £200-12-0, conditions of the further mortgage which include the release by Elizabeth of any right and title of dower to which she might have been entitled out of the equity of redemption of the said mortgaged premises, and declaration of uses of a fine, and a further mortgage (release) for £50 (4%) dated 10 Aug. 1763, reciting that G. E. had defaulted in repayment of £400 and interest, and upon requiring the further £50 had conveyed to 1 the equity of redemption for the residue of 900 years, that default has been made in repayment of £400 and £50 plus interest, therefore the estate is with 1, but 1 requires repayment of his money, totalling £493-12-0, so G. E. has applied to 3 for the same and for the additional sum of £56-8-0. E. to 3 for the payment of £77-1-3 with interest, and an agreement by G. Assignment Of Mortgage by 1, at the direction of 2, to 4 of a toft or site of a m. or meese place with a m. or dwelling house lately erected, previously purchased by John Humffreys, dec. (see nos 286-7) a m. with outbuildings lately erected and several parcels of land late of the said John Humffreys in [t.] Kynewyll [Cnewyll], p. Llanerfyl, co. Mont., on the right hand side of the turnpike road leading from the market town of Llanfair towards the village of Llanerfyl, which premises are now in the possession of David Davies and Edward Morris and were granted and released by John Humffreys of Llwyn, esq., to 3 in trust for 2 (nos 297-8), with a proviso that upon repayment 4 will reassign the premises to 3 in trust for 2 for the residue of the term of 500 years. Consideration: £396-16-6 and interest, making a total of £416-13-4. Recites a mortgage for £270 (no 299), that the premises therein mentioned were thought to be too scant a security for the said mortgage so other lands were demised by the said recited indenture; that those other lands are in mortgage to 1 for securing other money and therefore cannot be assigned, but that 2 has erected two dwelling houses on the said lands and has otherwise improved the said premises, which are now let at £22 annual rent, making them ample security for the sum of £396-16-6; that default was made in payment of the £270 and interest, whereby the premises became vested in 1 for the residue of the term of 500 years; that there is now owing to 1 the sum of £396-16-6 and interest, that 2 has applied to 4 for the said sum in order to pay off the debt, which she has agreed to do. Recites: Indenture of 29 September 1776 between 1, 2 and 3, reciting nos 288-9 above, that Evan Griffith had died, leaving G. E. his sole son and heir, a further mortgage for £198-8-0 dated 6 Sept. 1756 reciting nos 288-9, that G. E. had defaulted in repayment of £200 and interest, thus owing 1 £200-12-0, declaration of uses of a fine, a further mortgage for £50 (4%) dated 10 Aug. 1763, nos 290 and 291 above, stating that the total sum owed by G. E. was then £660; a lease and release by 1 to 2 at the direction of E. W., dated 29-30 May 1772, reciting that the £660, together with £71-15-6 interest and another small loan of 4/6, made a total of £732 owing to E. W. and to 2 as his trustee; that E. W. died, and by his will of 30 Jan. 1771 appointed 2 his executor and residuary legatee, by which 2 became entitled to the said recited securities, and reciting a deed poll endorsed on the release of 30 May 1772, noting an account settled between 2 and G. E. by which there appeared to be due to 2 two years' interest of £65-17-4 which with the principal sum and a further loan of £2-2-8 made a total of £800 owed, and that G. E. covenanted with 2 that the premises should not be redeemed until the money is repaid, and reciting that G. E. had contracted with 2 for the absolute sale to him of Caerguyddion and Tyddyn Bach in t. Moelfeliarth, p. Llangdafan, being part of the mortgaged premises, for £600, and that to date the total sum owed was £886-8-7; that 1 bargained and sold the said premises to 2; that 2, at the direction of 1, assigned to 3 the m's called Caerguyddion, Tyddynbach, Guyfylche and Tynyfron for the residue of the term of 900 years, free from provisos and equity, but upon trust to attend the inheritance for 2; that the m's called Tyddyn y Gyfylche or Ty yn y Gyfylche and Tynyfron and all premises not purchased by 2 are in trust for him for the better securing of the repayment of the remaining £286-8-7 (4½%) and after the repayment thereof in trust for G. E., the fee simple being with 2 as trustee of E. W., and the same premises being vested in 3 as trustee for 2 for the residue of 900 years; that there is now owing to 2 the principal sum and interest of £303, which 1 has requested 4 to advance, with a further sum of £47, which 4 has agreed to do upon having an assignment made to him, which sums make a total of £350. Assignment Of Mortgage By Demise for 500 years for £130 (4%) by 1 to 3 at the direction of 2, and Further Mortgage for £170 (4¼%) of the m. called Penyrallt, described in no.234. Recites no. 235, that the interest but not the principal sum of £130 was paid to 1, that 1 has requested repayment of the said sum, and that since it is not convenient for 2 to do so, he has applied to 3 to pay off the mortgage and to lend him the further sum of £170. Recites that the marriage of Sir John Riggs Miller and Dame Jane Davenport took place; that Sir J. R. M. then died, leaving Dame Jane entitled to a moiety of the said hereditaments assigned for the residue of a term of 500 years and to a moiety of the said sum of £2000 which she has consequently requested 2 to assign to her, and this they have agreed to do.

Recites no. 267; a lease of 1 Jan 1861 from Griffith Llewellyn to Edward Thomas, Samuel Thomas, Edward Thomas the younger and Richard Thomas of minerals on the south side of Lower Cockshot Rock discovered on or under named lands shown on the map attached to no. 267, subject to an earlier lease of 12 Oct. 1860; that the lessees brought machinery and plant for extracting minerals; a mortgage (demise for the residues of years remaining on the two leases) for £3500 and interest dated 6 Jan. 1863; that default was made in payment of the principal sum and interest; an assignment of mortgage by demise to 1 for £8200, dated 10 April 1866; that 1 has erected further plant upon the premises now known as Baglan Hall Collieries; that 1 has entered into a contract for taking on a lease for 60 years of mines and minerals on the Briton Ferry Estate, but no lease has yet been granted to him; that 2 has agreed to advance him £3000 upon having repayment secured on the leasehold lands. T. M., the will of Catherine Morgan, proved 1 June 1876, which named J. T. M. as the beneficiary and executor, that the said principal sum of £300 is owing to him, the interest having been paid to date, and that 2 has agreed to pay him the said sum, upon transfer to her of the mortgage debt and securities for the same.
