Two volumes entitled 'Prif Achae holl Gymru Benbaladr', being a composite collection of Welsh and English pedigrees compiled by, and in the autograph of, Sir Thomas Wiliems, Trefriw. The following statement made by him on the title-page (f.5a) indicates both the source and period of the work: 'Tho: Wiliem physyowr ai casglodh. y parth cyntaf val y gwely, oetran Crist ynol y cnawt 1578. Ac Ai angwanegodh yleni, sef 1595. hevyt angwanec nyd bychan i609. alhan o liuer Si: Vych. Gut. yw. Tud. Alet. John Brwyn. ag ereilh lawer. His other sources include the collections of Llywelyn ap Maredudd (f. 270a), Wiliam Cynwal (f. 270b), Ieuan ap Madog ap Rhys (f. 351b), Hari Je. LI. (f. 356b), Thomas ap Llywelyn ap Ithel 'o degeingl' (ff. 372b, 390a), and John Brook 'o Vodhwy' (f. 389a). Ff. la - 4a contain transcripts by Sir Thomas Wiliems of accounts of miscellaneous occurrences ranging in date from 1472 to 1612; ff. 654a - 664a contain an index in a later hand to the Welsh pedigrees included in the volumes. The original pagination is neither complete nor accurate. The volumes were at one time in the possession of David Jones 'Dewi Fardd', Trefriw, who has written his own and other pedigrees on ff. 298 and 668b, and was purchased from his executors by Thomas Pennant. The crest of the Pennant family is embossed in gold on the spine of each volume. The volumes are described in Messrs. Wm. Dew and Son's Catalogue of the Remainder of the Downing Library, 1913, p. 19.
