The original pagination is neither complete nor accurate. The volumes were at one time in the possession of David Jones 'Dewi Fardd', Trefriw, who has written his own and other pedigrees on ff. 298 and 668b, and was purchased from his executors by Thomas Pennant. History of the Gwydir family, etc,

Transcript, made in 1766, of Sir John Wynne's History of the Gwydir Family. It appears to be copied from a transcript, made on 18 Oct. 1706, of a manuscript which in 1700 belonged to Humphrey Humphreys, bishop of Bangor.[? Wynnstay MS]. NLW MS 27 is a transcript of the same original. The History is followed by transcripts of a land tax assessment for co. Denbigh at 2s. 4d. per £,.n.d.; resolutions of the Commissioners for co. Denbigh for levying an aid to the King, 3 May 1700; a note of the division of any general mise in the hundred of Isalet, and the 'Decays of Ruthin', co. Edwardi Warreni de Wormington in Comit Gloucestrio Anno Doni 1664 Anno Etatis 23'. A short description of the volume, in the form of a cutting from a sale catalogue, is loosely inserted. According to this description, the author appears to have been a Puritan of the Cromwellian period. A note, however, in the margin of this cutting [by Albert Addams-Williams] refutes this suggestion on the ground that the volume contains a sermon based on the martyrdom of Charles I. Paper; 252 pp., unnumbered; 142 x 89;; tooled calf.

Sermon notes,

A volume of sermons and sermon notes. Some of these were delivered at Preston, Kingswood, and Lapw[orth] between 1662 and 1665. A note in pencil on the fly-leaf states that the volume is in the autograph of the Reverend Matthew Henry. Howeer, a short description of the volume by 'D.R.T.' in the form of a newspaper cutting pasted on the inside of the front cover states that, in view of the dates of some of the sermons, the volume must be in the autograph, not of Matthew, but of his father, Philip Henry, the eminent Nonconformist divine.
