The Swansea Latin American Society / Cymdeithas Lladin America Abertawe was established in 1986 to support Central American Campaigns. The aims of the Society, as stated, was: 'to publicise the situation in Latin America and build up active support in the city of Swansea and surrounding districts for the people's struggle for peace and freedom; to channel financial support from the people of Swansea to national solidarity and human rights campaigns, and to their endorsed projects within Latin America; to promote the establishment of direct contact between the local labour movement, churches etc., and Latin American projects and people'.
It ceased to exist in 1991.

The donation consists of the records of the Swansea Latin American Society, 1982-1998. These mainly include correspondence, minutes, financial papers and newsletters relating to the Swansea Latin American Society. Also, campaign details, newsletters, reports and a scrapbook of press cuttings relating to various Central American Solidarity Campaigns, including Central America Week, Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign, El Salvador and Guatemala and Chile Solidarity Campaign.
