Seven notebooks containing notes made during, or immediately after, interviews conducted by the donor with Welsh politicians, public figures and activists during the period 1968-70, as research for his D.Phil thesis at Oxford University on Welsh nationalism 1945-70, later published as: The Welsh question: nationalism in Welsh politics, 1945-1970 (Cardiff: University of Wales Press, 1975). The names of those interviewed are listed at the back of The Welsh Question.

The file is composed of electoral material and leaflets published by Plaid Cymru mainly during various general election campaigns between 1970 and 1992. Among them is a typescript copy of 'An Economic Plan for Wales' published by the party during 1970, and copies of 'Socialism and Nationalism in Wales' by Neil Evans, and 'Defeating Welsh Nationalism', November 1987, by Jon Vaughan Jones.
