Gohebiaeth gyffredinol/General correspondence

Llythyrau cyffredinol, 1939-2002, wedi eu cyfeirio at Gwynfor Evans. Mae'r ohebiaeth ar ei hyd yn trafod datblygiad ac ymgyrchoedd Plaid Cymru. Ceir nifer fawr o lythyrau yn trefnu cyfarfodydd cyhoeddus, datblygiad polisi a'r trefniadau ar gyfer etholiadau. Mae nifer sylweddol o wahoddiadau at Gwynfor Evans i annerch cyfarfodydd mewn canghennau'r Blaid ac achlysuron cyhoeddus eraill ledled Cymru, ac mae amryw yn ymdrin â llunio, paratoi, cyhoeddi a dosbarthu'r Ddraig Goch a'r Welsh Nation bob mis. Ceir hefyd nifer o lythyrau'n ymwneud â gweithgarwch a dyletswyddau Gwynfor Evans fel henadur ar Gyngor Sir Gaerfyrddin. Mae materion llywodraeth leol ac addysg yn arbennig o flaenllaw ymhlith y pynciau a drafodir yn yr ohebiaeth. -- Mae nifer o lythyrau hefyd yn adlewyrchu diddordebau llenyddol a diwylliannol eang Gwynfor Evans, gan gynnwys ei gefnogaeth gyson i'r Eisteddfod Genedlaethol ac Urdd Gobaith Cymru. Ceir amryw o geisiadau i ysgrifennu erthyglau a chyfrannu at raglenni radio a theledu ac eraill yn ymateb i gyfrolau, pamffledi ac erthyglau a luniwyd gan Mr Evans. Mae'r llawer o'r ohebiaeth gynnar yn cyfeirio at fudiadau fel Heddychwyr Cymru, ymrwymiadau Gwynfor Evans i bregethu mewn capeli a chyhoeddi taflenni ac erthyglau. -- Mae'r llythyrau yn cynnwys llawer iawn o dystiolaeth am ddatblygiad ac ymgyrchoedd Mudiad Senedd i Gymru rhwng 1950 a 1956, ymgyrch Tryweryn ac is-etholiad Sir Gaerfyrddin, Gorffennaf 1966. Yn ystod y cyfnodau pan fu Gwynfor Evans yn cynrychioli Sir Gaerfyrddin yn y Senedd - 1966 tan 1970, a Hydref 1974 tan 1979 - mae'r ohebiaeth wrth reswm llawer iawn llawnach ac yn fwy cyfoethog. Mae'n cynnwys llythyrau oddi wrth nifer fawr o wleidyddion blaenllaw yn y pleidiau gwleidyddol eraill yn ogystal â ffigyrau Cymraeg yn y byd gwleidyddol. Ceir cyfeiriadau at ddigwyddiadau a datblygiadau yn San Steffan, mesurau a deddfau. -- -- Mae rhai o'r ffeiliau mwy diweddar hefyd yn cynnwys copïau o atebion Gwynfor Evans. -- General letters, 1939-2002, addressed to Gwynfor Evans. Throughout the series the correspondence discusses the development of Plaid Cymru and the varied campaigns in which the party was engaged. Many of the letters discuss the arrangements for public meetings, the formulation of party policy and election preparations. There are a large number of invitations to Gwynfor Evans to address meetings of Plaid Cymru branches and other public events throughout Wales, and a substantial number relate to the drafting, preparation, publication and distribution of Y Ddraig Goch and the Welsh Nation each month. Some of the letters concern Mr Evans's activities and duties as an alderman of Carmarthenshire County Council. Among the many subjects discussed in the letters, local government matters and education are especially prominent. -- Many letters reflect Gwynfor Evans's wide-ranging literary and cultural interests, including his constant support for the National Eisteddfod and Urdd Gobaith Cymru. There are many requests to write press columns and articles and contribute to radio and television programmes, and some responses to books, pamphlets and articles written by him. -- Much of the early correspondence refers to movements like Heddychwyr Cymru (the Welsh Pacifist movement), Gwynfor Evans's commitments to undertake preaching engagements in various chapels and the publication of pamphlets and articles. -- The letters include a great deal of evidence about the development and the campaigns of the Parliament for Wales movement between 1950 and 1956, the Tryweryn campaign and the Carmarthenshire by-election of July 1966. During the periods when Gwynfor Evans represented Carmarthenshire in parliament - 1966 until 1970, and October 1974 until 1979 - the correspondence is, as might be expected, much fuller and richer. It includes letters from a large number of prominent politicians in the other political parties as well as from Welsh political figures. They refer to events and developments at Westminster, and bills and acts of parliament. -- Some of the more recent files also contain copies of letters sent by Gwynfor Evans.
