A scrapbook, compiled by J. W. Jones, Blaenau Ffestiniog, and unbound leaves containing holographs, transcripts, and press cuttings of poetry in free and strict metres, 1893-1903 and 1918?, by William (Gwilym) Morgan, quarryman, of Blaenau Ffestiniog, together with adjudications by [Sir] J[ohn] Morris Jones (press cuttings), [Howell Elvet Lewis] ('Elfed') (transcript), etc. MS. 11064 also contains testimonials, 1901, to William Morgan and Mrs Morgan from Robert Roberts, J. P., surgeon, Blaenau Ffestiniog, the Reverend W[illiam] P[ari] Hughes, Dolgellau, and Wm. Davies, Junior, Managing Partner, The Diphwys Casson Slate Quarries Company, Blaenau Ffestiniog, the first (and presumably the other two) in support of their candidature for the posts of master and matron of Pwllheli Workhouse; and a holograph letter, 1936, from [Humphrey Jones] ('Bryfdir'), Rhiwbryfdir, to [J. W. Jones], enclosing copies of 'in memoriam' verses to Gwilym Morgan. Included in MS. 11065 is a holograph letter, 1899, from Robert Roberts, Blaenau Ffestiniog, to Gwilym Morgan, with observations on 'englynion' in English by the recipient.

Barddoniaeth David Evans,

A notebook containing 'englynion' and a few 'penillion' by, and in the hand of, [David Evans, Llanrwst]. Among the titles are 'Englynion i Bont Menai', 'I Gwilym Salsbri', and 'I Gwilym Canoldref'.

Barddoniaeth David Charles,

A notebook in the autograph of J. H. Davies described as containing 'Barddoniaeth amryw ond yn benaf David Charles ieuaf Caerfyrddin yr hwn a anwyd 1802 [sic] ac a fu farw 1880' transcribed from printed sources, e.g. Addysgydd 1823. Loose at the beginning is a letter, 1896, from David. R. Charles, Hoylake to J. H. Davies enclosing a transcript of a Welsh translation by D[avid] C[harles], the writer's father, 1853, of the hymn 'Abide with me' ('Trig gyda mi, f'Arglwydd mae n hwyrhau').

Barddoniaeth 'Dafydd Ddu Eryri', etc.

An early nineteenth century manuscript in the hand of, and consisting largely of poetry by, David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri'). Most of the poems have been published in Corph y Gaingc (Dolgellau, 1810). The volume also contains extracts from printed works; 'Yr Angel gwarchweidwol. Cân newydd Gorph. 27 1802'; a poem entitled 'My Mother. Written in America and published in the Chester Chronicle June 14 1805'; 'Catechism Byr'; memoranda and extracts dealing with the history of Protestantism (e.g. 'Erthyglau Lambeth', 'Erthyglau Cymmanfa Dort ... 1618', 'Calvin', 'Bacsteriaeth', 'Arminiaeth', etc.); poetry by Gruffudd Wiliam ('Gutyn Peris'), 1807; 'Gweddillion Englynion yr Eos, a luniwyd yn yr Eisteddfod Ynghaerwys 1567 a gopiwyd allan o lyfr y Bardd Côch o Fon Mai 1807'; fragmentary notes and extracts (e.g. 'Y Saith Gelfyddyd (7 Rural Arts)', 'Y Saith Gysgadur', 'Enwau y Gwyr a gyfansoddasant y llyfr a elwir Gweddi Gyffredin Mai B.A. 1549', 'A Critique on the third Book of Paradise Lost', etc.); 'Emyn, allan o'r Saesoneg'; etc. Appended to one of the poems, 'Cwyn yr Henwr methiant', is the following note; 'Sepr. 7th 1805. Sent copies of the above to Rev. Mr. Williams Treffos, Morys Williams Plas Goronwy near Red Wharf and Thomas Jones King's head, Amlwch. Also to Gutyn Peris & Wm Jones Pentir & Dafydd Owen of Gaerwen, Llanystumdwy ... Sent copies of Fy Anwyl Fam, to the said persons'.

An incomplete copy in the author's hand of some of the items of verse contained in D. Silvan Evans, Telyn Dyvi (Aberystwyth, 1898). There are some minor differences between this and the printed copy.

Holograph poetry by John Hughes ('Ceiriog'; 1832-87), including a 'pryddest' entitled 'Paul o flaen Aggripa', 1849, and two series each of four 'englynion' in memory of Dr W. O[wen-] Pughe and [Robert Davies] ['Bardd Nantglyn'].

At the reverse end are notes in the autograph of John Jones ['Myrddin Fardd'] headed 'Hen Ddywediadau - Gwerin-eiriau', with some press cuttings.
