Letter from William Morice to William Powell about lands late of Roger Gyles, with a copy of a Copy Court Roll, Uske Castle, at Castle Gate of Henry, Earl of Worcester, 23 November 28 Elizabeth (1585), before Thomas Rinalds, gent., Deputy of Thomas Williams, esq., being a surrender by Roger Gilles, and Margaret his wife, by William Powell their attorney by letter of attorney 22 November 1585, of all lands and tenements in the parishes of Llanissen and Llangoven, in the manor of Uske to their uses. Fine for entry 9d. His cousin William Rumse will take the journey towards London tomorrow. The writer hopes there will be a final end of the trouble between William Powell and his brother, Walter.

Case for counsel's opinion, Andrew Jones, seised in fee of the manor of Gwern Esny, holds the same by knight's service of the Earl of Pembroke. William Powell is seised in fee of a tenement which he holds in socage by fealty and 16s. 8d. rent per annum of Andre Jones as of the manor of Gwernesny. Andrew Jones levies a fine of the manor to Morgan George in fee, William Powell does not attorn but afterwards enffeoffs one William Morgan in the fee of this tenement so held of the said manor. The question is of which and by what services or rent shall William Morgan hold of the said tenement. Opinion by Wa. Wynter.
