Defendant says that Philip Joth Gronow, seised in fee of a messuage and 16 acres of land with appurtenances in Kemes, demised the same to Elizabeth by the name of Elizabeth vergh Thomas, daughter of Thomas David of Caerlion, for the term of her life and she was so seised, and Philip demised the same to Llewelen ap Jeyn, from the feast of the Purification 1558 for 14 years at a rent of 40s. per annum by indenture 15 January 1558, at Caerlion, within the jurisdiction of the Court.
