A volume originally used by Thomas Richards, Darowen to record the rules of Darowen Church Sunday School ('Rheolau perthynol i Ysgol Sabbothol Eglwys Darowen') [1824]. Beginning at the end, also in the hand of Thomas Richards, are 'Cadwaen Iachawdwriaeth', a list of subscribers (among them Thomas Richards) to Welsh Bibles, and 'Crefyddau', being statistics of religious membership of European countries. The outside upper cover is inscribed 'Ysgol Sul Eglwys Darowen 1824'.

Among the pieces mounted on the inside covers of the exercise books is A Card, Intended to be privately put into the hand of one that Swears, written (according to an accompanying note by Mary Richards) by the Reverend John Llwyd, vicar of Hindolveston, Norfolk, son of David Llwyd, Cymerau, Tal y Bont [Cardiganshire].

A volume, dated 1835, which was originally intended as as arithmetic exercise book for T[homas] Cynddelw Richards and was subsequently used by Mary Richards to record a list of bards, etc. who were licenced ('a gafodd Drwydd[ed]') at a Welshpool eisteddfod [?1824] and transcripts of 'cywyddau', 'englynion', etc. by Moris Evan ap Eingan [i..e. The volume was largely compiled during the years 1855-60 but there are some later entries dated to 1871. '); a tract, 1753 (transcribed 1822), explaining the reasons for the adoption in Great Britain in 1752 of the Gregorian or New Style Calendar ('... y Rhesymmau amlycaf paham y gwnaed y cyfnewidiad diweddar yn y Flwyddyn, ydys yn alw yr Ysteil newydd'); short biographies of early and late British historians ('Ychydig o hanes yr Awdwyr mwyaf hynod a ysgrifennasant am y Brutaniaid yn yr Ynys hon yn gynar ac yn ddiweddar ...'), based on Joshua Thomas: Hanes y Bedyddwyr, Ymhlith y Cymry... A notebook in three hands containing English translations of poetry by Alphonse de Lamartine, among them being versifications by G. Hughes, Oakley Lodge, Gloucestershire, and translations by Amédé Louis Joseph Guidez; 'englynion' by [Daniel Evans] 'Daniel Ddu [o Geredigion]' and [John Jones] 'Ioan Tegid', 1828, and English translations and imitations of poetry of 'Ioan Tegid' by T. S. A. and T. J., 1832-6; and an extract from Francois René, vicomte de Chateaubriand: Les Martyrs, ou Le Triomphe de la Religion Chrétienne, together with a corresponding Latin translation by M. Guidez. Although the fly-leaf bears the name of Alcwyn C. Evans, Carmarthen none of the text is in his hand.

A volume written almost entirely in the autograph of John Roberts ('Siôn Lleyn'; 1749-1817) containing poetry largely of his own composition, with some items by other poets. The volume is in two sections and there is a list of contents at the beginning covering pp. 1-145 in the first section. The wording on the title-page is 'Trysorfa yr Awen sef Casgliad o Ganiadau, Sion Lleyn, 1787,' but some of the items are of later date. The other poets represented are David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu o'r Eryri'), Robert Prich[ar]d (Robert Prichiard Sion,'Robin'r Aber'), T[h]om[a]s Edward[s] Nant, D. Edward, Lewis Morys, John Hughes ('pandy bach pentre ucha yn Lleyn'), Richard Powel, Evan Owens, Glan-yllynnay (Llanystumdwy), MrEfan Efans ('Bardd hir') [Ieuan Brydydd Hir], Evan Rich[ar]d (Bryncroes), [David Jones] Dafydd Sion Pierce ('Dafydd Brydydd hir'), Dafydd ap Sion, Owen Griffith, Hugh Lloed [sic] Cynfal, Goronwy Owen(s) ('Goronwy Ddu o Fôn'), Edmund Prys and Griffith Philip. One or two items (p. 2 in the first section and pp. 142-5 at the end of the volume) appear to be in the autograph of John Thomas ('Siôn Wyn o Eifion'). One 'cywydd' in the volume (p. 118 in the first section) is headed 'Annerch Ieuan Bryncroes i Sion Lleyn wedi dyfod i ymweled a mi i Chappel Rhyd-y-Clafrdy pryd yr oeddwn yno yn cadw ysgol y fln 1791 y mis Medi' . The volume contains some notes in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), press cuttings and also a copy (printed) of Marwnad, neu Goffadwriaeth y Brawd Robert Roberts, o Sir Gaernarfon : yr hwn a ymadawodd â'r Byd hwn Tachwedd 28, 1802. Yn llawn 40 mlwydd Oed : wedi bod yn pregethu'r Efengyl 15 mlynedd. 8 pp. (Caernarfon : Argraphwyd gan T. Roberts, n.d.) by S. Lleyn. On p. 4 in the second section are 'Trioedd y Crinwas neu'r Cybydd'.

A 'waste book' of Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd') consisting largely of problems in fluxions, together with 'The Welsh' and 'The Welsh Language' (being attacks on the Welsh people for their prejudices against the English language and their adherence to their native language), an incomplete draft of a play entitled 'Deio Meurig's Visit to Pwllhely on a Saturday afternoon in June', English and Welsh verses; etc.

A composite volume containing lists of Welsh words and their meanings, some in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), others from printed sources; notes in the autograph of R. Prys Morris, including references to a number of 'cywyddau', etc. by Edmwnd Prys in BM Add MSS and a few extracts from [Joseph] Besse, A collection of the sufferings of the people called Quakers (London, 1753); part of a letter from the Reverend Evan Evans [? Llansadwrn Rectory, Anglesey] to 'Myrddin Fardd'; and transcripts in the autograph of 'Myrddin Fardd' and others of poetry by Rowland Jones, Richard Hughes, Cefn Llanfair, Cadwaladr Cesail, Thomas Williams ('Twm Pedrog'), Morys Dwyfech, Huw Arwystl, [ ] 'Gutto o Leyn' (d. 1867) (beginning wanting) and [Evan Pritchard] 'Ieuan Lleyn', some printed in J. Jones ['Myrddin Fardd'], Cynfeirdd Lleyn (Pwllheli, 1905).

Clough, Morgan Davies, (?) Nannau, Peter Lloyd, Gwnodl, Thomas Edwards, Corwen and Thomas Jones, Corwen; a series of 182 'Pennillion' [i.e. 'Hen Benillion']; a few 'Beddargraffiadau' and 'englynion' or other items of verse, some dated, by various poets including the following: Robert Davies, Nantglyn, Lewis Morris, Edward Evans, Gwyddelwern, Hugh Moris, Griffith James, John Roberts, Hersedd, Morus ap Robert o'r Bala, [John Jones] 'Ioan Tegid', Y Parchedig Walter Davies, Y Parchedig Roger B. A notebook bearing the name of John Peter ('Ioan Pedr'), 'Bala, Rag. [sic] 1869' containing poetry by him, chiefly 'englynion', under the title 'Yr Eiliadau', some items dated, 1868-74. Only a small part of the volume (17 pp.) has been used.

A manuscript.volume (28 ff.) containing poetical compositions ('englynion', 'penillion', hymns and carols, etc.) almost entirely by Hugh Evans ('Hywel Eryri' or 'Hugh Eryri' [?1764-1847]), some dated 1827-8 and 1842-3. It seems doubtful whether the volume is in his autograph as an englyn at the end by Morris Roberts, Melin Llanllyfni, dated 22 June 1847, is headed 'Englyn a gyfansoddwyd ar yr achlysur gladdu yr oedranus Fardd "Hywel Eryri".' A page or pages are missing at both the beginning and the end of the volume.
