Original bundle of papers in an action in Hereford County Court of John James George of Lugg Vale, Hereford, farmer (petitioner), Mary Ellen George (respondent) and Sarah Winifred Hughes (otherwise George), also of Lugg Vale, Hereford (claimant), relating to household furniture and effects seized by the Sheriff of Herefordshire as the property of the claimant.

Metcalfe v. Higginson,

Original bundle of papers relating to an action in the Kings Bench (ref. 1949 M 3) between Elizabeth Euronwy Metcalfe (an infant by her father and next friend Albert Metcalfe) and the said Albert Metcalfe (plaintiffs) and Edward Higginson (defendant), and the related claims for injuries of Catherine Mary Morgan and Maggie Metcalfe, both of Dolgwartheg, including a file of Cardiganshire Constabulary photographs (ref. M/506), showing the "scene of accident near Dolgwartheg, Aberayron which occurred at approximately 11-15am on Tuesday 5th Nov., 1946 when a military staff car driven by Driver Edward Higginson, T/1413847 [given elsewhere as T/14138487] knocked down two women and a girl aged 6 years named Elizabeth Metcalfe severing her right leg below the knee". Also briefs, bills of costs, correspondence, opinions, statements, police and medical reports, a copy of the Crown Proceedings Act 1947, a copy of Elizabeth Euronwy Metcalfe's birth certificate (b. 12 June 1942), 1949. Elizabeth Euronwy Metcalfe's case at least appears to have been settled out of court, the Treasury Solicitor, on behalf of the defendant, agreeing to pay the plaintiff's claim, to bear the costs and expences of medical care and artificial limbs for the life of the infant plaintiff, to pay £4000 into the County Court at Aberystwyth to be invested and applied for the benefit of the infant plaintiff, and to pay the plaintiff's costs.

Original file of papers relating to a case in the Aberaeron Petty Sessions relating to a charge of failure to comply with a billeting notice, in that John Glendower Christopher of New Quay, retired, having been served with a billeting notice to provide board and lodging for a child named William Reed, failed to comply, pleading his wife's illness. Verdict: guilty; fined £10 (no costs).

Original file of papers relating to a prosecution of George Morris of the Cambrian Stores, Aberystwyth, for selling tomatoes by retail, failing to display a notice stating in plain words and figures the maximum retail price thereof without a price, and ditto carrots, contrary to the Home Grown Tomatoes (Maximum Prices Order, 1942, the Carrots (1942 Crop) (Maximum Prices) Order, 1942, and Regulation 55 of the Defence (General) Regulations 1939, and Article 3 of the Order made thereunder. Plea: not guilty; charges dismissed.

Printed and bound Petition of appeal, Appellant's case, Respondent's case and Index in an appeal from HM Court of Appeal (England) to the House of Lords. The case relates to the purchase by the appellants of a quantity of government surplus tinned soups lying at HM Depot, Deptford, 1919, the remainder of which (c.16,000 cases) they sold in May 1920 to W. Archer & Co. Ltd, financed by eight bills of £1,000 each and one bill of £117 6s. 4d., payable in six months, guaranteed by Nash & Co. of Cambrian Mills, Newtown, co. Mont., the respondents, a partnership of four, Nash, father and son, chemists, and a retired farmer and an auctioneer, the partnership having been formed to deal in government stores.
