Gift to David John ap Gwillim of Llangathen, Carmarthenshire, of two messuages called Ierwerthes Hyll and Sceland in St Issells, 1582; and five final concords of lands in Crunwear and Llanbedr Felffre in Pembrokeshire, and in Penbryn, Betws Ifan, Bron-gwyn, Blaenporth, Troedyaur, etc. in Cardiganshire, involving respectively Nicholas, John and James Lewes, members of the Griffith family and John Elliot, 1577-1641.

Bonds for payment and other acknowledgments of debt to or by John Pryse of Gogerddan, 1577, Sir Richard Pryse, 1607-1621, Sir Richard Pryse, 1642-1651, Lewis Pryse of Gogerddan, John Pryse of Glanmeryn, Simon Pryse, 1706, Pryse Pryse, 1820-1836, and Pryse Loveden (later Sir Pryse Pryse), 1859-1860. Cynnull Mawr (Bwlch y Thyallt, Esgair Argoed, etc.)

Title deeds of messuages and land called Bwlch y Thyallt, Esgair Argoed, Gwayn y Gwythyl and Pen y Byarth in the township of Cynnull Mawr, mortgaged by Hughe ap William ap Llenn' ap Rees 1577, and conveyed to John Pryse of Gogerddan by [nephews] of the mortgagee, 1582/3; and a gift by Margaret vch Lewis of Llanilar to John Pryse, of Tythen Esger Argoed, 1581.

Llangoedmor and Cardigan (Plas Dyffryn Llynan, etc.,)

Title deeds relating mainly to parts of Plas Dyffryn Llynan, Glan Llynan and Cwm Baret in Llangoedmor and Cardigan, 1577-1664. They include mortgages by Thomas ap Thomas Griffith, 1577, Morgan Thomas, 1603, John Parry and Elizabeth Mortimer, his mother, 1610-1611, followed by assignments and further mortgages to members of the Lewis family of Geirnos and Cenarth, and the Bowen family of Ferwig, 1610-1619, and finally the sale of the various portions to David Thomas Parry of Noyath, Llandygwydd, 1612-1623. An exemplification of a fine, 1664, indicates that David Jenkins acquired the properties [by mortgage] from the Parry family c. 1635. Other deeds relate to Cae Morgan, purchased by Rice Gwyn, 1583/4, mortgaged, 1612/3, and sold to David Thomas Parry, 1623; Pant y Meel, Tre’r Fale or Ffos y Fale, mortgaged by Morgan Thomas, 1596; and Tir y Gardey Bach, Cardigan, mortgaged to David Thomas Parry, 1613/4

Bonds to John Pryse of Gogerddan and Aberbechan, and to Richard Pryse of Gogerddan by Jenkin Gwyne of Llanidloes, 1576/7, Henry Mores ap Howell Sydan of Llanfihangel Genau'r-glyn, Cardiganshire, 1621, and Richard Jenyngs of Tregynon, 1635, all for the performance of covenants in deeds (now missing); and a general acquittance by Ieuan ap Ieuan of Aberbechan to Sir Richard Pryse, 1604.

Gogerddan financial papers

Financial papers of the Pryse family of Gogerddan, comprising mortgages to private individuals and to the Crown Life Assurance Company, of parts of the Gogerddan estate and of various financial assets, 1617-1910; bonds and other documents relating to financial loans and the repayment of debts, 1577-1912; bank books, 1786-1926; and company prospectuses and a shares book, 1865-1909.

South Wales Pedigrees,

A collection of South Wales pedigrees compiled between 1578 and 1588. It also contains a copy (mutilated) of a poem by Siôn Cent beginning 'Pannyd Ryfedd wirionedd ar inion olwc' and a list (also mutilated) of the names of the sheriffs of Breconshire. Their year of office is not given, but there are 92 names in all, the last three being Thomas Bulcott, Thomas Gwyn, and John Stedman: the list differs slightly from that printed in Theophilus Jones's History of Brecknockshire. Iolo Morganwg has annotated the volume and has frequently written 'Dal sylw!' or similar phrases in the margins. He has also picked out various names which occur in the pedigrees, among them 'Meredydd ap Rhys ap Rhiccert' (p. 41) and 'Rhys goch ap Rhiccert' (p. [1]15), although in the second instance the name in the pedigree is 'wenllian verch Rys goch ap Rys voel ap Rikert ap einion ap gollwyn'.

Cwmystwyth, Llangwyryfon and Ysbyty Ystwyth deeds

Title deeds relating to Cwmystwyth [parish of Gwnnws], Langwyryfon and Ysbyty Ystwyth, 1578-1622. They comprise a bond for peaceful possession of Yr Havod Glace, Llangwyryfon, until redemption of the mortgage, 1577/8; the marriage settlement of Thomas Jenkin, son of Jenkin D'd ap Ievan ap John of Ysbyty Ievan (Ysbyty Ystwyth) and Elizabeth vch Moris ap Res ap Mores, 1599; and three deeds for Rhos y Tyddyn, part of the grange of Cwmystwyth belonging to the dissolved monastery of Strata Florida, which was in the hands of Morgan Rees, alias Jenkins, 1601, Morgan Glyn of Glynclywedog, Montgomeryshire, 1605, and Watkin Morgan, 1622

Mortgages of the Llwydiarth estate, Merioneth

Mortgages of parts of the Llwydiarth estate, Merioneth, 1578-1621, made by Rowland Pughe or Rowland ap John ap Hughe of Machynlleth, to Francis ap John ap Hughe of Llanwrin, 1578; Francis Pughe of Llwydiarth and his son John Pughe, alias John Francis, to Rees Pughe of Lanwrin, 1611/12, followed by a sale in 1621; and by Francis Pughe, hs son John Pughe and his wife Elizabeth Pughe, otherwise Owen, to John ap Ieuan ap Owen of Cemais, 1612, 1620/1. The mortgaged properties comprised, at different times, the capital messuage of Llwydarth Ucha, Llwydiarth Isaf, extending from Avon y Grigwssyth to the top of the mountain called Bwlch Penhelyg, and Y Gelynrod situated in the the townships of Ceiswyn, Tal-y-llyn, and Cwmcadian, Pennal.

Llangathen and Llanfihangel Cilfargen

Three bonds, of William Harry David and his brothers, sons of Harry David Gruffith, 1577/8, Rees Rudd of Aberglasney, 1621, and Griffith Morgan and his family to the use of Nicholas Lewes of St Issells, 1654; probate of the will of Ieuan ap Ph’e, of Llangathen [1602]; a mortgage of Lletherkadvan by Hugh Rochfort to Sibill Williams 1656; and an agreement by Richard Herbert to convey (?mortgage) Court Henry to Sir Nicholas Lewis with a lease back of coal mines on the premises, 1660.
