Mortgages of parts of the Llwydiarth estate, Merioneth, 1578-1621, made by Rowland Pughe or Rowland ap John ap Hughe of Machynlleth, to Francis ap John ap Hughe of Llanwrin, 1578; Francis Pughe of Llwydiarth and his son John Pughe, alias John Francis, to Rees Pughe of Lanwrin, 1611/12, followed by a sale in 1621; and by Francis Pughe, hs son John Pughe and his wife Elizabeth Pughe, otherwise Owen, to John ap Ieuan ap Owen of Cemais, 1612, 1620/1. The mortgaged properties comprised, at different times, the capital messuage of Llwydarth Ucha, Llwydiarth Isaf, extending from Avon y Grigwssyth to the top of the mountain called Bwlch Penhelyg, and Y Gelynrod situated in the the townships of Ceiswyn, Tal-y-llyn, and Cwmcadian, Pennal.
