The volume contains one poem not included in the printed work, namely 'Cerdd, Diolchgarwch i'r Cadpen Jones, a'r Dinas Llanwyndaf, am hen ddillad i Owen Williams, (Owen Llanddeiniolen) . . .'.

A 'poetical' exercise book of W. J. Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd') largely containing annotated transcripts of 'englynion' and other verses of the period 1820-1830 by Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'), William Jones ('Gwilym Cawrdaf'), Rowland Parry ('Ieuan Carn Dochan'), [William Williams] ('Gwilym Cyfeiliog'), Henry Griffith ('Hare Goch o Wynedd'), and Walter Davies ('Gwallter Mechain'). The collection is based on information received from Mary Richards ('Mair Risiart'), Darowen Vicarage, and contains copious extracts from 'Y Begeryn', being a manuscript in her possession containing impromptu verses by visiting poets, etc. The volume also contains transcripts of two letters, the one from J[ohn] Parry ['Bardd Alaw'] to the Reverend T[homas] Richards, Aberrhiw, 1822 (the success of Evan Evans ['Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'] as candidate for North Wales for a medal), and the other from Evan Evans ['Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'] to the Reverend T[homas] Richards, Caerwys [1816] (the recipient's promotion to the living of Caerwys, etc.); a list of books bought of the administrator of W[illiam] L[ewis] Walker [rector of Trefriw], 1863; and poetry by 'Gwilym Cowlyd' partly described as 'Y Ffetan Ysmaldod'.

A volume containing miscellany of prose and verse items in the hand of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'), divided into three sections each described on its 'title-page' as 'Brith y Coed sef cynnulliad cymmysg o hen Bethau Cymreig Rhyddiaith a Phrydyddiaeth Cynnulliad Iolo Morganwg'. These three sections are numbered Rhifyn 1, 11, 111 respectively. The contents of section 1 (pp. i-viii, 1-153) consist of miscellaneous items including notes on the three bardic brothers Ednyfed, Madawc (Benfras), and Llywelyn ap Gruffudd of Marchwiail [co. The poetry includes verses entitled 'Y Cynauaf mawr diweddaf' subscribed 'D. T. a'i cant allan o'r Saesneg ar ddymuniad John Jones Llandwrog Medi 10d 1804 (cf. Dafydd Thomas (Dafydd Ddû Eryri), Corph y Gaingc (Caernarfon, 1834), pp. 323-4), and 'Englynion newyddion i Long newydd o Gaernarfon yr hon a elwir Valiant'. A manuscript containing an alphabetical list of poets and authors (most with abbreviations for the names and floruits appended) and literary and historical works (e.g. Brut y Tywysogion, Buchedd St Margaret); a list of Welsh proverbs, all starting with 'ni' or 'nid'; poetry, nearly all in the form of 'englynion', mainly by Owen Gruffydd 'o blwy Llanystynd[wy]' and Absalom Roberts of Llanrwst, with a few 'englynion' by John Prichard Prys, Edward Morus, Ellis Rolant, Sion Dafydd and anonymous; on the last page (24) there are epitaphs in verse to Anne and Cathrin Roberts of Goppa, who died in 1780.

On one of the fly-leaves is an imperfect list of correspondents in the hand of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), with additions in the hand of J. H. Davies.
