Two nineteenth-century tune books now joined together as one volume, the first bearing the dates 1816 and 1866 (inside covers) in the hand of Mair Richards of Darowen, and the second 1850 (inside front cover); the first part contains popular and traditional Welsh song and dance tunes, the second, English waltzes, marches and quicksteps with a few traditional Welsh tunes and hymn-tunes. Also included are an englyn attributed to M[air] R[ichards], but signed below in red by David Richards ('Dewi Silin'; 1783-1826), who may have been the first owner (part one, f. 1).

A miscellaneous collection of hymn-tunes, anthems and a few traditional and popular tunes from Wales and elsewhere, perhaps compiled in the mid-nineteenth century and comprising various quires, bifolia and single sheets in a number of hands of the first half of the century, and bearing watermarks between 1817 (ff. 10, 24) and 1845 (f. 93). It includes works attributed to John Williams (f. 13), David Harries, Carno (ff. 14-16, 25 recto-verso, 28 verso-30, 55 verso-8, 62-6 verso) and David Richards ('Dewi Silin') (ff. 17-19 verso, inverted text). Accompanying words, where present, are mainly in Welsh. Also included are memoranda and verse in Welsh (ff. 26 verso-8) and a few annotations by Mair Richards, Darowen (f. 16a).

A volume originally used largely by the Reverend Thomas Richards, Darowen as an account book, 1821-6, of the Darowen Auxiliary of the Society for Promoting Christianity among the Jews ('Cymdeithas Gynnorthwyol ir Iuddewon' or 'Cyfaill Israel'). The Auxiliary Society was established on 12 January 1821 and the account book contains rules, lists of officers, particulars of individual subscriptions (and of collections previously made during the period 1816-20), and copies of letters of acknowledgment of annual contributions to the parent Society. The remainder, and by far the greater part, of the volume was subsequently used largely by Mary Richards to record transcripts of 'carolau', 'englynion', 'cywyddau', hymns, etc. by Hugh Jones (Maesglase), W. There are references in the volume to a number of manuscript sources, viz. p. 59 'o Lyfr Edward Jones Gwernphilip Llan Badarn fawr Sir Aberteifi', p. 107 'Copiwyd allan o hen lyfr Moelyrch 1868', p. 132 [recte 232] 'o Lyfr Llangadfan, and p. 237 'o Lyfr Llangadfan, neu Garth Beibio'.

A volume originally intended as a personal and farming account book, 1830 and undated, but consisting almost entirely of transcripts, largely by Mary Richards, Darowen, of material of family and local interest. A volume almost entirely in the hand of Mary Richards, Darowen largely containing poetry ('cywyddau', 'englynion', etc.) by Rowland Williams, Sion Philip, Guttun Owen, William Philip, Dr John Kent, Dafydd ap E[dmwnt], Edmwnt Prys, Robin Ddu o Fon, James Dwnid [recte Dwnn], Thom. Williams (1817), Iolo Goch, Ifan Tew Brydydd, Taliesin, Davydd ap Gwilim, Huw Arwystl, Hugh Morris, Edward Morris, Walter Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'], [David Richards, 'Dewi Silin'], Robert Parry (Eglwys fach), David Rowlands (Plas Isa, Dolgelley), Rev. A volume originally used by Thomas Richards, Darowen to record the rules of Darowen Church Sunday School ('Rheolau perthynol i Ysgol Sabbothol Eglwys Darowen') [1824]. Beginning at the end, also in the hand of Thomas Richards, are 'Cadwaen Iachawdwriaeth', a list of subscribers (among them Thomas Richards) to Welsh Bibles, and 'Crefyddau', being statistics of religious membership of European countries. The outside upper cover is inscribed 'Ysgol Sul Eglwys Darowen 1824'.

A composite volume, comprising five exercise books and numerous pieces mounted therein, largely in the hand of Mary Richards, Darowen.
