Wales-China Friendship Society
Papers, 1985-2018, including correspondence, press cuttings and minutes of meetings relating to the activities of The Wales-China Friendship Society (WCFS), also known as Tseina a Chymru Undebol, which was established in 1975. The papers relate to the visit of The Peking Opera to Cardiff in 1986 and The Welsh Dragon Exhibition in Shanghai, 1988, during the Year of the Dragon.
Also included is a notebook recording notable events of the society by Ena Niedergang',1992-2012; a poster for her illustrated lecture: ‘Welsh links with the nation of China over the centuries’, at The National Museum in Cardiff, 1996; and papers relating to a proposal for a charter – Europe China Federation (ECF).
Wales-China Friendship Society
Papers, 1986 -2013, relating to the Wales-China Friendship Society (Tseina a Chymru Undebol) which was established in 1975, including newsletters, 1990-2013. The charity was closed in 2015 by the trustees.
Wales-Yemen exhibition visitors' book,
A visitors' book, 1990-1995, of the exhibition 'New Traditions: contemporary Welsh craft / Traddodiadau Newydd: crefftau Cymreig cyfoes' by Charles and Patricia Aithie, which accompanied the Welsh-Yemeni Festival held in Sana, Yemen. Most entries are in Arabic; a typescript containing an English translation is included in the front of the volume. The visitors' book was transferred to NLW among the Charles and Patricia Aithie photographic collection.
