Correspondence relating to stuffed kites and eggs in museum collections, 1944-1957; annual nest records, 1902-1932, extracted from Dr J. H. Salter's manuscript notebook (now NLW MS 14454B) by William Condry, 1951; and notes and extracts re. Welsh kites, including by William Condry, J. A. Walpole-Bond, E. Cambridge Phillips, C. H. Original file of letters to William Condry, mainly with other naturalists and ornithologists, members of the Kite Committee and representatives of other societies. Includes reports of sightings; also the arrival of grey squirrels at Rhandirmwyn, co. Carm., 1949; a printed history and subscription list of the "Farmers' Defence Committee" against the Forestry Commission's proposed compulsory purchase of 20,000 acres in the Upper Tywi valley, 1949-1952; a list of known egg collectors, 1951; and the national campaign to criminalise the gin-trap, 1952.

Original file of William Condry's copies of Kite Committee papers, including reports and minutes of the West Wales Field Society, 1949-1950; annual reports on the kite's status and nesting season, 1950-1955; notes on, minutes of and reports to Kite Committee meetings, 1958-1971 and 1974; a draft report on the desertion of two kite nests after filming operations by the RSPB film unit, 1970. Several of the papers, containing locations of nests then in use, are marked confidential.

Original file of papers relating to the British Trust for Ornithology Ornithological Atlas, mainly relating to the presentation of the breeding distribution of rarer breeding species in Wales, including kite, hen harrier, peregrine, chough, little tern, gossander and dotterel. Includes "Personally I would feel happier if the system did not show precisely the number of 10 km. squares with [kite] breeding records, mainly because this betrays the preponderance of Cardiganshire records compared with Carmarthenshire ones ... and is therefore against our agreed policy of keeping quiet about the strength of the Cardiganshire population" (letter from Peter Davis to Col Salmon, Feb. 1970) (see also B 4).

The 1977 addenda was compiled by the author from the abstracts of kite records made by Peter Davis (A 7, below) from the papers of Dorothy Raikes (d. 1976), transferred by her trustees to the Nature Conservancy Council.
