The report to the 1960 annual meeting begins: "This meeting is a reduced form of an annual affair, formerly semi-public, held by the 'Kite Committee', a body of people interested in Kite welfare. It is now restricted to those persons actually doing some field observations on Kites, by invitation of Capt. and Mrs. H.R.H. Vaughan". The 1961 report begins: "The annual meeting of those interested in, and actively concerned with, the welfare of the Kite in Wales ...", and the 1964 report: "The meeting of those directly concerned with Kite protection ...". An agenda for a meeting on 11 March 1971 includes the manuscript note: "Last meeting of old informal Kite Cttee". The re-formed Kite Committee held its first meeting at Plas Gogerddan, 18 Feb. 1971, the chair to alternate annually between the senior RSPB and Nature Conservancy members, the other organisation to provide the secretary and secretarial facilities.
