Archival history
"Miss Raikes was directly involved with kite protection in Wales from 1934 until 1949, and in charge of protection arrangements from 1938 to 1949. Very few details of records during this period were made available by her, even to the RSPB who provided the greater part of the financial support, so that the papers contain much information which was not available to Col. H. M. Salmon when he compiled his work on kite records up to 1970." (Peter Davis report, 1976).

Existence and location of originals
The original NCC file cover is entitled 'Kite records (Miss D. T. Raikes), from original papers later deposited at NLW by Dr R. P. Bray (Nature Conservancy Council)'. These original papers are not now (2017) found at NLW. Query, whether at NMW, or still at the NCC's successor body, Natural Resources Wales?
