Edward Lloyd's letter books,

Vol. III contains Edward Lloyd's letter books for 1674-1675, together with miscellaneuos papers which include: "Articles against ye phanaticall corporation of Oswestry"; "A short narrative of designs in the fishing trade"; "A short narrative how Wm. Plymley imployed and wholly entrusted by Mr Llod of Llanvorda behaved himself in respect of the trust reposed on ye coasts of Cardiganshire, especially at the Lodge". Several letters in this volume refer to the fishing trade.

Edward Lloyd's letters and memoranda,

Papers mounted, interleaved, and bound in five white vellum volumes; gilt lettering; folio. It appears that the papers were acquired by Mr Stanley Leighton in one volume. Note. Some of the documents relating to Oswestry in theses volumes have been printed in Byegones and offprints have been pasted on the interleave opposite the text.

Vol. I. Two letters to Mr Leighton are pasted at the beginning of the volume, one from John Bennett, the bookseller who had sold the manuscript to him, and one from Stephen Donne, nephew of the John Donne from whom the bookseller had acquired the manuscript. These are followed by a sheet, written towards the beginning of the eighteenth century, giving a brief description of the contents of the original volume with some remarks on the character of the scribe - Edward Lloyd of Llanvorda, near Oswestry. This volume consists of a letter book of Edward Lloyd from 1676 to 1678, containing copies of letters addressed by him to several persons, with copes of a few other letters. Many of the letters signed E. Ll. refer to his interests in the herring trade. The last letter, which is incomplete, gives an account of the treatment which he received in the districts around the river Dyfi.

Edward Lloyd's actions & sufferings in & for his majesties service with ye just state off his arrears"; prayers; a list of all the Lloyds that have been burgesses of Shrewsbury since 36 Henry VI; a list of Oswestry malignants; a list of Capt. Lloyd's troops, etc.
