Much of the contents of the manuscript was transcribed by David Evans, Llanrwst in Cwrtmawr MS 117.

A volume in the hand of Owen Williams ('Owain Gwyrfai'; 1790-1874), Waun-fawr, Caernarvonshire, containing a list of contents of a pedigree manuscript of Owen Gruffydd, Llanystumdwy, and poetry by Lewis Morganwg from a manuscript in the writer's possession, both compiled in 1843 with a view to publication in Yr Haul; and transcripts, made during the period 1871-2, of poetry by Cadwaladr Cesail (transcribed at the request of John Jones, Bryn y Gro, Llanystumdwy), and Morys Dwyfech. In the case of the latter poet, some transcripts are in another hand and there are copious corrections by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). The volume is labelled on the upper cover 'Owain Gwyrfai MS'.

A scrap-book compiled, with a holograph introduction and table of authors, by David Evans, Llanrwst containing press cuttings, largely from Llais y Wlad, 1875-?81, of 'cywyddau' and 'awdlau', with annotations. The poetry consists mainly of the flyting 'cywyddau' of Edmwnd Prys and William Cynwal ('Yr Ymrysonfeydd rhwng Edmwnd Prys, Archddiacon Meirionydd, a William Cynwal, Prydydd ac Arwyddfardd') and 'cywyddau' ('Cyfansoddiadau') by Dafydd Llwyd ab Llywelyn ab Gruffydd Fychan. Written on the inside lower cover is a long note by O[wen] Williams, Fronheulog, Waunfawr, 1857, of which the following is an extract, - 'Myfi a gesglais gynhwysedd y llyfr hwn o'r hen ysgrifiau a ddaeth i'm dwylaw oeddynt eiddo Dafydd Ddu Eryri ac a delais am eu rhwymo yn nghyd megys y gwelir yma er's llawer o flynyddoedd yn ol ...'.

Five files of unbound leaves containing titles and first lines of poems by mediaeval Welsh strict metre bards. The bards are arranged in alphabetical order of names and, in their present order, Cwrtmawr MSS 726-7 and Cwrtmawr MSS 728-30 appear to comprise two separate indexes. The compiler - inferentially working on manuscripts in the British Museum - has not recorded the shelf and page numbers of their source material; however, there are some such references and other insets and additions in the hand of J. H. Davies.

Edward, D. ab Edw[ard], Richard Phylip, Griffith Parry, John Davis, and Sion Dafydd Sienkin. The volume may be in the hand of John Pughe of Kedris, whose name occurs twice: 'John Pughe his hand 1731', (p. 12) and 'John Pughe of Kedris his hand 1732' (p. 16).

A notebook in the hand of J. H. Davies, 19 April [18]93, largely containing lists and extracts of Welsh poetry (especially by Tudur Aled), etc. from manuscripts in the British Museum and Cardiff Free Library.

A commonplace book of Evan Evans otherwise Evan ab Evans ('Ieuan Fardd' otherwise 'Ieuan Brydydd Hir', 1731-88), containing excerpts and extracts of prose and verse derived chiefly from English seventeenth and eighteenth century sources, e.g. Alexander Pope (translations of the 'Iliad' and the 'Odyssey'), Samuel Johnson (life of Richard Savage), John Dryden ('Preface to the Fables'), Abraham Cowley ('Miscellanies' and 'Davideis'), Sir John Suckling, William Warburton, William Wycherley, William Congreve, Joseph Addison, Samuel Butler ('Hudibras'), etc. The volume also contains 'englynion' and couplets by William Llyn, 'Theodore Alet', Sion Brwynog, Evan ab Jenkin Evan, D[afydd ap] G[wilym] Iolo Goch, Gwilim ab Ieuan hen, Dafydd ap Edmunt, Huw Cae Llwyd, Sion Tudur, and E. An early eighteenth century miscellany, with later additions, containing recipes in English; a herbal in Welsh, with 'englynion' in praise of herbs by William Cynwall, Huw llun, Rhys Iorwerth fynglwyd, Gryffith ap Efan, Dr. Richard Dafis ('Esgob Dewi'), Sion ap Sion, Sion Tudur, Howel borthor ('o'r Trallwng yn mhowys'), Thomas Efans (1619), etc; 'Brenin yn yr hên amser a ddyfeisiodd i ddeuddeg oi wyr ddoydyd 12 gair gwir dan eu perigl'; 'gofyn a wnaeth y saith wyr doethion iw gilidd. A notebook in the hand of J. H. Davies containing miscellaneous biographical and bibliographical extracts and notes from printed sources and from manuscript volumes in the British Museum, the National Library of Wales and elsewhere, including material relating to the abbots of Conway, Ystrad Marchell (Strata Marcella), Strata Florida and Llanegwestl (Valle Crucis); Welsh pedigrees; and manuscripts containing poetry, largely by Tudur Aled.

The remainder is in several hands of the late seventeenth or early eighteenth century. There are copious annotations by William Maurice and some additions and annotations by Cadwaladr Dafydd, Llanymowddwy (1747) and L[ewis] Morris ('Llewelyn Ddu o Fôn', 1701-65).

There is a typewritten list of contents at the beginning and the volume also contains a letter, [19]07, from T[homas] Roberts, Borth Fechan, Portmadoc to Mr [J. H.] Davies (returning the transcripts of the Dafydd Nanmor poems).

There are also some press cuttings containing material relating to both Robin Ddu and Robert Parry ('Robin Ddu Eryri'). Loose papers consist of a note on [John Mortimer (d. 1736)] and an envelope addressed to 'Myrddin Fardd, At:- Mrs. Prices, The Fairs, St. Michael's Hamlet, Liverpool' containing a note on Ellias Morys, Llwyndyrys and William Elias the poet headed 'Mrs. Pierce, The Friars, St. Michael's Hamlet, Liverpool', with an 'englyn' by Owain Lleyn on the reverse side (in pencil).

A notebook bearing the number '10' containing transcripts of 'cywyddau' by Wiliam Cynwal (1), Hywel Rheinallt (4), Huw Roberts Llên (1) and Huw ap Dafydd (1) partly in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') and partly in the form of press cuttings. Most of the pages are blank.
