Bu'r Swyddfa Ranbarthol dan ysgrifenyddiaeth Robert (Silyn) Roberts hyd ei farwolaeth ar 15 Awst 1930, pryd y cymerwyd yr awennau gan Mary Silyn Roberts. Bu cysylltiad agos erioed rhwng Cymdeithas Addysg y Gweithwyr a Choleg Harlech hyd nes, yn 2001, fe gyfunwyd y ddau fudiad. Sefydlwyd yr ysgoloriaeth a gyfeirir ati gan Dr Thomas Jones yn ei lythyr dyddiedig 25 Tachwedd 1934 er cof am ei fab, Elphin Lloyd Jones, a fu farw trwy ddamwain yn ddeuddeg oed (gweler, er enghraifft, Eirene White Papers yn LlGC). = Correspondence and copies of correspondence, 1929-1944, primarily between the District Office of the Workers' Educational Association, located at the University College of Wales, Bangor, and Coleg Harlech, together with correspondence from the Workers' Educational Association headquarters in London (main correspondent Ernest Green, general secretary of the Association) to the District Office and correspondence between the District Office and prospective Coleg Harlech students. The District Office was under the secretaryship of Robert (Silyn) Roberts until his death on 15 August 1930, after which the rôle was taken over by Mary Silyn Roberts. A close alliance had always existed between the Workers' Educational Association (WEA) and Coleg Harlech, the two bodies eventually merging in 2001. Coleg Harlech's primary correspondents are its warden, Ben Bowen Thomas, and its chairman, Dr Thomas Jones. The scholarship referenced by Dr Thomas Jones in his letter dated 25 November 1934 was established in memory of Dr Jones' son, Elphin Lloyd Jones, who died in an accident aged twelve years old (see, for example, Eirene White Papers at NLW).

'Roedd Coleg Harlech yn goleg addysg breswyl ar gyfer oedolion a leolwyd yn Harlech, Gwynedd. Fe'i sefydlwyd ym 1927 gan Dr Thomas Jones (1870-1955) fel parhad o waith Cymdeithas Addysg y Gweithwyr o fewn amgylchedd breswyl. Warden cyntaf y Coleg oedd Syr Ben Bowen Thomas (1899-1977). Yn 2001, ymunodd Coleg Harlech â changen Gogledd Cymru o Gymdeithas Addysg y Gweithwyr, cyn cyfuno drachefn efo cyrff eraill a throi'n Addysg Oedolion Cymru, sef y mudiad a fu'n rheoli safle Coleg Harlech nes ei werthu yn 2019. = Coleg Harlech was an adult education residential college situated in Harlech, Gwynedd. It was founded in 1927 by Dr Thomas Jones (1870-1955) as a continuation of the work of the Workers' Educational Association (WEA) within a residential environment. The College's first warden was Sir Ben Bowen Thomas (1899-1977). In 2001, Coleg Harlech merged with the North Wales branch of the Workers' Educational Association, before merging again with other bodies to become Adult Learning Wales, which took over the management of the Coleg Harlech site until its sale in 2019.

Bu farw ym Mangor. = Ben Bowen Thomas (1899-1977) was born in Ystrad Rhondda and educated in Rhondda Grammar School, University College of Wales, Aberystwyth and Jesus College, Oxford. He worked as a lecturer before being appointed the first warden of Coleg Harlech at its establishment in 1927 by Dr Thomas Jones (1870-1955), a post he retained until 1940. He went on to work for the Ministry of Labour and subsequently the Ministry of Education (1945-1963), in which rôle he campaigned for improved standards within Welsh schools and in the teaching of the Welsh language. He served as President of the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth from 1964 until 1975. He died in Bangor.

Priododd (1902) ag Eirene Theodora Lloyd, a chawsant dri o blant, gan gynnwys Eirene (wedyn y Farwnes White) (1909-1999). = Thomas Jones (1870-1955) was born in Rhymney, Monmouthshire, the son of David Benjamin and Mary Ann Jones. He was educated at University College of Wales Aberystwyth and the University of Glasgow. Following a period lecturing in Scotland and Ireland, he returned to Wales as secretary of the Welsh National Campaign Against Tuberculosis before later being appointed secretary of the National Insurance Health Commission (Wales). In 1916 he departed for London to take up the post of Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet, later to be promoted to Deputy Secretary. From 1934 to 1940 he served as a member of the Unemployment Assistance Board and from 1952 to 1954 was chairman of the charitable Pilgrim Trust. Thomas Jones was one of the founders of the Welsh Outlook (becoming the magazine's first editor from 1914 to 1916) and of the Gregynog Press (1922) and, in 1927, was one of the main founders of the adult education establishment Coleg Harlech. He was the primary instigator in the establishment of the Arts Council (initially known as the Council for the Management of Music and the Arts) in 1939, serving on several arts-based councils, including that of the University of Wales, University College of Wales Aberystwyth (of which he was president from 1944 until 1954), the National Library of Wales and the National Museum of Wales. He was the author of numerous books, articles and pamphlets. He was made a Companion of Honour in 1919 and in 1944 was elected as a member of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion. He married in 1902 Eirene Theodora Lloyd, with whom he had three children, including Eirene (Baroness White) (1909-1999).
