Biographical history
The poet Alison Bielski (b. 1925) has published numerous anthologies and has regularly contributed to magazines, periodicals and other publications. Much of her work draws on Welsh folklore and mythology and some of her experimental visual poetry has been exhibited in Wales and abroad. She has won numerous prizes for her work.
Born in Newport, Monmouthshire, she worked as a secretary with various industrial companies and in the British Red Cross in Cardiff. From 1969 to 1974 she was an honorary joint secretary of the English-language section of Yr Academi Gymreig.
Her anthologies include Twentieth Century Flood (1964), Across the Burning Sand (1970), Monogrampoems (1971), Eve (1973), Mermaid Poems (1974), The Lovetree (1974), Seth (1980), Night Sequence (1981), and Eagles (1983). In addition, her work has been published in a number of periodicals such as the London Welshman, Anglo-Welsh Review and Poetry Wales. She has also published several booklets on local history, including Flower Legends of Wales (1974),Tales and Traditions of Tenby (1981) and The Story of St Mellons (1985).

The file comprises mainly correspondence, 1968-1973, between Alison Bielski and her co-secretary, Sally Roberts Jones, together with correspondence between Bielski and participants and organisers of Academi conferences and events. The file also includes notes taken by Alison Bielski during various Academi meetings; agendas and minutes of those meetings, and lists of Academi members.
