Biographical history
The section's general correspondence was accumulated first by the voluntary secretaries of the English Language Section of the Academi and then, from 1974 onwards, by a paid administrator. From 1968 up to 1974, the files were kept personally, by the secretaries, but following the appointment of clerical staff the files were kept centrally in the Academi office.

Scope and content
The series contains general correspondence relating to the establishment and day to day running of the English Language Section of the Academi. The early files include substantial correspondence relating to the formation of the English Language Section and contain correspondence with many prominent writers. In later years, as paid administrators were employed, the contents of the files reflect the more day to day issues of arranging events, sponsorship, competitions etc.
