Material relating to the research and production of 'The Last Shift', the chapter contributed by Tony Curtis to artist Iwan Bala's Certain Welsh Artists, published by Seren Books in 1999 (see, for example: https://www.serenbooks.com/book/certain-welsh-artists/). The material comprises: annotated typescript drafts of 'The Last Shift'; letters to Tony Curtis from Iwan Bala, enclosing material relating to the proposed volume; material, including exhibition catalogue, relating to artist couple David and Jane Carpanini and to photographer and artist Susan Trangmar; letter to Tony Curtis from artist Valerie Ganz, enclosing exhibition catalogues and postcards depicting some of her works; Gregynog Gallery catalogue containing biographical details relating to artist Jack Crabtree, together with a series of postcards depicting some of his works; catalogues relating to an art exhibition held at Ramoth Christian Centre, Hirwaun, held April 1998; photocopied material taken from an exhibition titled Coal: British Mining in Art 1680-1980, which was held at various locations during 1982 and 1983 list of artist Kevin Sinnott's works exhibited at an exhibition; press cutting; and rough manuscript notes by Tony Curtis.

Welsh artist Iwan Bala was born Richard Iwan Ellis Roberts in Sarnau, near Bala.
