Seventy-two letters, mainly from Maurice James (1916-1968) to his mother in Bala, co. Merioneth, describing his tour of Canada, the United States of America and Mexico with a friend, Anthony S. Brennan of Huddersfield, between May 1957 and August 1958. The tour included a six-month stay at Cecil Lake, British Columbia, where Maurice James served as headmaster of the local school during the winter of 1957.
