Morgan's wife had been over the Town asking for her cousin Wilkings, who has shot the dogs of the Painscastle people before their doors; 'they' say Ox[ford] declares for Croft; Chase w[oul]d have an easy contest with Wilkings, but very differ[en]t with the other; Master Ed[ward] Lewis told Parson Harley at Presteign that it was reported that L[or]d Oxon and 'he' were upon no terms together as usual; he seems to depend entirely upon those [burgesses] lately made at Rayad[e]r; old Ja[me]s Holl was given nothing when he went to Downton begging some relief as it w[oul]d be certainly declared bribery and made an election void; James says 'he' went with Parson Harley to Kinsham; 'they' say 'his' wife continues at the wells; all should think that recipient has not the least thought [of standing for election].
