Biographical history
Edward H. (Ted) Spanswick was an active member of Plaid Cymru in Monmouthshire (later Gwent) from the late 1950s, and participated in the anti-Common Market campaign in the early 1970s. He stood as Plaid Cymru parliamentary candidate in the Monmouth constituency in the general election of February 1974.

Immediate source of acquisition or transfer
Donated by Mr Ted Spanswick, Pontypridd and Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, in April 1985 and January 1995. Further papers donated by Mr Ted Spanswick, Northampton, June, July and September 2002, and June 2004.
