The Forward Movement was the response of Wesleyan Methodists to a perceived loss of empathy with the poor in the late nineteenth century. Port Tennant Road Forward Movement Hall was established in 1895 at 181, Port Tennant Road, St Thomas, Swansea. During the Second World War, the chapel was destroyed during a bombing raid, and it would appear that services were held at Burrows Forward Movement Hall until the premises were moved temporarily to Wern Terrace, Port Tennant. The chapel was rebuilt in the 1950s. In 1959, a Joint Pastorate was created with the churches at Burrows and Pentrechwyth.
