Note
Fe sefydlwyd Capel Methodistaidd Calfinaidd Jewin, y capel Cymreig hynaf yn Llundain, o bosib oddeutu 1774 yn ardal Smithfield o'r ddinas. Erbyn 1785, 'roedd yr achos wedi tyfu'n rhy fawr i'w safle cychwynnol ac fe'i ail-leolwyd am gyfnod i Wilderness Row, Clerkenwell, cyn symud drachefn i Jewin Crescent, gyda James Hughes ('Iago Trichrug') yn weinidog. Yn ystod ail hanner y bedwaredd ganrif ar bymtheg gweinyddwyd yr achos gan, ymysg eraill, Dr Owen Thomas (1812-1891), David Charles Davies (1826-1891) a John Evan Davies ('Rhuddwawr') (1850-1929). Cymaint oedd y cynnydd yn yr aelodaeth erbyn hyn fel y gwelwyd yr angen i godi adeilad gwbl newydd ar gornel Fann Street yn nwyrain Llundain. Pan ddinistrwyd Jewin bron yn llwyr yn ystod Blitz yr Ail Ryfel Byd, ymroddodd D. S. Owen ei holl egni a'i adnoddau i ail-adeiladu'r capel, prosiect na fu fyw i weld ei chyflawni pan agorwyd yr addoldy presennol ym 1960. = Jewin Calvinistic Methodist Chapel, the oldest Welsh chapel in London, was established possibly around 1774 in the Smithfield area of the city. By 1785, the cause had outgrown its primary site and had relocated for a period to Wilderness Row, Clerkenwell, prior to moving to Jewin Crescent under the ministry of James Hughes ('Iago Trichrug'). During the second half of the nineteenth century the cause was ministered by, amongst others, Dr Owen Thomas (1812-1891), David Charles Davies (1826-1891) and John Evan Davies (bardic name 'Rhuddwawr') (1850-1929). Membership had by this time increased to such an extent that it necessitated the erection of a new building on the corner of Fann Street in east London. When Jewin was virtually destroyed during the Second World War Blitz, D. S. Owen devoted all his energy and resources into restoring the chapel, a project he did not live to see realised at the opening of the present place of worship in 1960.
