Papers donated by Mr Geoffrey L. Fairs, MA, FRHistS, Hay-on-Wye. Mr. Fairs, a scientist who took up residence at the Hay on his retirement, had his A History of the Hay published by Phillimore in 1972, and the present donation consists of several thousand index cards compiled while researching this work. The cards are divided into two groups: major references (1 box) and secondary references (2 boxes), and within each group the arrangement is broadly that of the chapter headings in the printed work. The entries are further arranged to correspond with sub-headings and then in chronological order.
