History

The Ottley family originated in Yorkshire in the sixteenth century, but a substantial branch was established in the West Indies from the early eighteenth century, and possibly before. Many members of the family held office in the legislature, judicature, military and church in the British West Indies, especially St Kitts, Nevis, Antigua, St Vincent, Grenada and St Christopher. The family is related to the Ottleys of Pitchford Hall, Shropshire.
