The Ottley family held the manor of Pitchford from 1473 to 1807. Thirteen generations of the Ottleys of Pitchford ended with the death of Adam Ottley (1745-1807), a few weeks after the death of his father, Thomas in 1807. The estate then passed by will to Charles Cecil Cope Jenkinson, 3rd Earl of Liverpool. The 3rd Earl died without male issue and the estate was divided up between his three daughters. Pitchford passed to his youngest daughter, Louisa (1814-1887) who married John Cotes (1799-1874). On his death, Pitchford passed to his second son, Charles James Cotes. He died unmarried and Pitchford passed to his sister, Victoria Alexandria (1840-1918), who married secondly Lieut-General Sir Robert Grant (1837-1904). On Victoria's death, Sir Charles Grant became the owner of Pitchford.
