Notebooks and notes, 1836-[1920x1945], mostly in the hand of John Rhŷs. They contain notes of lectures he attended as a student, and research papers mainly relating to philology, folklore and history, with a substantial group of diaries recording ogham inscriptions. Also included are accumulated notes such as Manx sermons, and rubbings of inscriptions.

System of arrangement

Arranged at NLW in thirteen files. It appears that most notebooks within the series were previously provisionally numbered at NLW. Where possible, items have now been arranged in chronological order, and according to subject; three files comprising various notebooks, unbound notes, and rubbings are listed at the end of the sequence.
