History
The Wiggins Group was concerned with the provision of training associated with the implementation of the national curriculum. It was established under the chairmanship of A J Wiggins, Deputy Secretary, Department of Education and Science, to review progress made by the ad hoc groups which were established to assess training needs for specific subjects. The first of the ad hoc groups was set up in October 1989 to consider training needs associated with technology. Subsequently, at the Wiggins Group meeting on 18 December 1989, it was decided to set up further ad hoc working groups around the time of the final report of the relevant national curriculum subject working group.
