Biographical history
Lucy Myfanwy Pryce (1890-1976) was a novelist as well as a short story writer. She wrote novels such as Blue Moons (1919), Parsons' Wives (1926), Gingerbread Lea (1927) and Blind Lead (1928). She was the daughter of Shadrach Pryce (1833-1914), vicar of Ysbyty Ifan, 1864-1867, and dean of St Asaph, 1899-1910.

Immediate source of acquisition or transfer
Donated by Rachel M. Hawkins, the niece of Myfanwy Pryce, Richmond, Surrey, in 1993. A further four items were donated by Mrs Hawkins, August 2008.

Papers of Lucy Myfanwy Pryce, mainly relating to her writing, 1917-1967, including manuscripts and typescripts of unpublished novels, stories and a play, 1928-1962; with notebooks, 1909-1950; publishers' contracts, 1919-1946; press cuttings relating to her sister Marion Pryce, 1919-1929, and a scrapbook on folklore and ancient History, 1920-1932.
Four letters, 1919-1920, to Myfanwy Pryce from the novelist Stanley Weyman. They give advice about writing and publishing her novels.
