Letters mainly by Charles Deare of the Inner Temple to Pryse Pryse of Gogerddan, Buscot Park and Woodstock, and letters forwarded from George Tennant of Grays Inn, other solicitors and creditors, 1803-1843, and one file of letters to Charles Deare, 1840-1843. Some letters discuss the probate and execution of the will of Edward Loveden Loveden, 1822, the administration of his affairs and subsequent family settlements by Pryse Pryse. However, the dominant theme is the management of financial encumbrances on the Buscot Park estate, notably the portions settled on Miss Jane Loveden and Edward Loveden’s illegitimate daughter, Harriet Thayer (Madame Thiebault), and the legacy to Jane Gill, secured by mortgages and bonds to Samuel Wilson Warneford of Bourton on the Hill, Thomas Lintall and others. The letters emphasise the necessity of adequate surveys for valuation, and confirmation of Pryse Pryse’s title to his English and Welsh estates as security for the loans. Financial remedies suggested by Charles Deare include the letting of Woodstock, the appointment of Rev.S.
