Manuscripts, [1905x1908]-[1937x1938], of the Rev. David David Williams, comprising mainly essays on cultural, literary and historical topics submitted for competition at the National Eisteddfod; together with a draft summary of a proposed history of Wales, and an album of correspondence and miscellaneous papers.

An essay on Twm o'r Nant [Thomas Edwards (1739-1810)] a'i Amserau written by Mynyddwr o Feirionydd (i.e. David David Williams) for the Colwyn Bay National Eisteddfod, 1910. The essay was published by Jarvis and Foster, Bangor, 1911.

File comprises election addresses and assorted papers circulated in the Wales electoral region during the campaign for the European Parliament elections in 2019. Arrangements to hold the election were made at the last minute as the UK had been due to leave the EU at the end of Marh 2019 and two new parties. the Brexit Party and Change UK - The Independent Group joined the established parties in fighting the election. File also includes some material circulated in England for the elections.

Also included are translations from the German, most apparently unpublished, of poems by Rilke, [1948] (f. 2), Theodor Storm, 1962, 1966 (ff. 3-4), Friederich Hölderlin, [1960x1967] (ff. 5-9), and Eduard Mörike, [1960x1967] (f. 12), and a translation from the French of the first seven verses of François Villon's 'Le Petit Testament', [1960x1967] (ff. 10-11); drafts of parts of 'The Island' (ff. 64-75) and 'The Eclipse' (ff. 76-78), two proposed plays by Watkins, [1940x1967]; a verse 'Epilogue for a play', [1940x1967] (ff. 79-80); and 'A Book from Venice', 1948, a poem by Watkins (published in Botteghe Oscure, 2 (1948), 270-1) (f. 2 verso). The translation of Storm's 'Cats' (f. 3) was published in TLS, 9 March 1962, p. 162.

An incomplete essay (pp. 1-11, 39-44, 97-106) on 'Cymry Enwog hanner cyntaf y ddeunawfed ganrif, a'u dylanwad ar Lenyddiaeth Cymru. Great Welshmen of the first half of the 18th Century, and their influence on Welsh Literature', which was awarded the prize at the National Eisteddfod at Wrexham, 1912. There are some comments by J. H. Davies, who was one of the adjudicators.
