However, in RA2 & RA3 (1552/3 and 1580), several place-names are mentioned including the following: Weston Oxenbold, Shipton, Burton, Sturchley, Deuxhill, Sutton, Madeley, Presthope, Lushcot, Hatton, Stoke St Milborough, Downton, More, Caughley, Acton Round, Harley, Wigwig, Benthall, Posenhall, Atterley, Walton and Wyke, all in Shropshire. RA4 (1581) contains a rental of lands belonging to the Chantry of Wenlock, due unto Richard Modlicott, while RA5 [16 cent.?] contains a particular of all the lands belonging to the monastery of Wenlock. Mortgages and other papers relating to mortgages (mainly copies and drafts) on the Wynnstay estates in Salop, Montgomeryshire, Flintshire, Merioneth and Denbighshire, but also including a small number of family deeds, and documentary evidence of mortgages of the Peniarth estate for which the Williams Wynn family acted as trustees, 1770-1921. The Wynnstay securities comprised two very large mortgages of £77,000 and £60,000, respectively assigned to new mortgagees in 1845.

Miscellaneous papers deriving from the appointments of county officials, procedures of local government and the administration of justice in Montgomeryshire. The various files concern the bailiffs, 1605-1688; the sheriff 1610-1705; Justices of the Peace, 1618-1647; commission of a quarter master, 1660; the deputy lieutenant, 1703; and Machynlleth town hall, 1847.

Papers, probably in their original bundles, deriving mainly from the election of a burgess to represent the borough of Montgomery in Parliament and concerning the corrupt practices employed in the procedure. The files comprise lists of burgesses in Llanfyllin, Montgomery and Welshpool, 1657-1679; election returns of the borough of Montgomery, 1661-1727; miscellaneous petitions relating to election of a burgess to represent Montgomery, 1679-1689; election returns of Edward Vaughan, MP, 1679-1705; the case and petition of Charles Herbert, 1685; and the case and petition of Robert Williams, 1727. Several of the cases and petitions are accompanied by copies of earlier documents to provide evidence of precedents, 1545-1685.

Two bundles of papers relating to elections in Montgomeryshire, 1863-1877. The first comprises legal papers in a lawsuit of 1863 relating to the Montgomeryshire parliamentary election of 1862; and the second contains an electoral register, vouchers and letters dating from the Montgomeryshire Boroughs election, 1877.

Twelve deeds, 1302/3, 1537-1675/6, the majority of which relate to the manors or lordships of Mechain Is Coed and Uwch Coed, Caereinion, Mochnant, Mawddwy, Cyfeiliog, Talerddig and Arwystli. Two of the deeds, 1302 and 1588, appear to have originated from the manor of Caus. The Vaughan family is strongly represented and the series includes settlements of the Llwydiarth estate, 1538, and the manor of Talerddig, 1673-1675/6, involving John ap Howell Vychan and Edward Vaughan respectively. Among witnesses named in the deeds is Richard Herbert, seneschal of Powys, 1537-1538.

Mainly agreements for sale, conveyances, particulars and conditions of sale for lands and timber in Montgomeryshire sold by the Wynnstay estate, 1853-1897. The locations include Hirnant, Llanerfyl, Llanfyllin, Llanfair Caereinion, Llangadfan, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Llanwddyn, Montgomery, Pennant Melangell, Trefeglwys and Welshpool. One file concerns the sale of Llwydiarth estate timber, 1870. Others relate to the Arwystli chief rents, 1881, and the Wynnstay Arms, Llanfyllin, 1891.
