Letters from 'Rebecca',

Photocopies of four threatening 'Rebecca' letters (three in Welsh and one in English), June-Sept. 1843, sent to Daniel Harris of Pantyfen, p. Llanfihangel-ar-arth, co. Carm., regarding the payment of a debt to Gwenllian Lewis of Blaengors, p. Llanpumsaint. The original letters were purchased at auction (Peter Francis, Carmarthen) by the donor in December 1995.

Warrants for royal pardons,

Photocopies of warrants signed by Queen Victoria, granting pardons to Benjamin Rees ('a disorderly apprentice'), 1841, Mary Edwards (perjury), 1854, and Patrick Mochan (larceny), 1856, all convicted in co. Pemb.; together with photocopies of warrants signed by George IV granting pardons, on condition of being transported to New South Wales, to Thomas Hughes (passing counterfeit money), 1827, and David Phillips (sheep stealing), 1828, both committed to death at the Pembrokeshire Great Sessions.

David Lloyd George's tribute to James Sauvage,

A photocopy of a letter from David Lloyd George to the editor of Baner ac Amserau Cymru, in which he pays tribute to the singer James Sauvage. The letter was published in Baner ac Amserau Cymru, 20 July 1916. Welsh.

John Daniel Evans's Patagonian manscripts,

Photocopies of Welsh manuscripts in the hand of John Daniel Evans (1862-1943), Patagonia, comprising details regarding the Welsh settlers who took part in the 1885 expedition to the Andean foothills led by Luiz Jorge Fontana; his diary for 1888 describing his second expedition into the interior with Luiz Fontana and other Welshmen; together with autobiographical notes (see John Daniel Evans El Molinero' (Esquel, Chubut, Argentina, 1994)).

Lewis Morris ('Llewelyn Ddu o Fon') family bible,

Photocopies of leaves from a copy of The Text of the New Testament... With a Confvtation...By William FVlke... (London, 1589) (Shelf No. Bs 2080 b59qto) once belonging to Lewis Morris ('Llewelyn Ddu o Fon') and later to Sir Lewis Morris (1833-1907). The leaves bear manuscript notes in the hand of Lewis Morris, including memoranda, 1729-1733, relating to the birth of the children of Lewis Morris and Elizabeth his wife, and 'englynion' ?to William Fulke.

Lloyd Jones of Aberdare's USA and Patagonian notes,

Photocopies of notes written in 1933 by Lloyd Jones, born in Aberdare, co. Glam., containing details regarding his family and recording their departure from Wales to America in 1874, from America to Patagonia in 1876 where his father worked as an engineer, back to Wales in 1877 and to America in 1879 until 1892.

Lord Lisburne, Ystrad Meurig,

Lord Lisburne allowed the library to photocopy a pedigree book, with emblazoned coats of arms and an achievement, of the Vaughan family, Earls of Lisburne, compiled, 1920-1921, by G. Ambrose Lee, York Herald of Arms, with later manuscript and typescript additions.
