Miscellaneous papers, 1863-1950s, of the Lloyd George family, including rent and other receipts, 1863-92, of Richard Owen, father of Margaret Lloyd George (ff. 1-48); autographs, 1917, of political figures including Herbert Henry Asquith, Sir Winston Churchill and Sir Edward Grey (f. 50 recto-verso); and typescript verse in Welsh and English composed, 1919, by Eliseus Williams ('Eifion Wyn') in praise of Margaret Lloyd George (ff. 51-2).

MS 23052D includes a letter from J. Gwili Jenkins, one of the adjudicators (f. 1) and the winning pryddest by Simon B. Jones (ff. 2-12); MS 23053D includes letters from the three adjudicators, T. Gwynn Jones, R. Williams Parry and J. J. Williams, together with copies of the latter two's adjudications (ff. 1-25) and the winning awdl by Edgar Phillips ('Trefin') (ff. 26-34).

Two essays in Welsh (one incomplete) on the Taf valley in counties Carmarthen and Pembroke by the Reverend John Lloyd James ('Clwydwenfro', 1835-1919) (ff. 1-39); two letters, 1895, from Jonathan N. Davies ('Carnalaw'), Liverpool, to 'Clwydwenfro' discussing the latter's poetry (ff. 40-5v); and poetry by 'Carnalaw' and 'Clwydwenfro'.

A volume containing holograph poetry, largely in free metre, written during the period 1876-1928 by Richard ap Hugh, Bala. At the beginning of the volume is an alphabetical index of titles ('Cynnwysiad'). Inset is a holograph poem entitled 'Ymweliad y Bardd' by [John Jones] ('Tegid').

The letters, some of which include fair copies of published poems, are chiefly concerned with contemporary writing in Wales in both English and Welsh and with the recipient's work as editor of a number of volumes in this field. Also included are holograph copies and cuttings of poetry by R[ichard] R[oberts] Morris, [J. G. A scrapbook, compiled by J. W. Jones, Blaenau Ffestiniog, and unbound leaves containing holographs, transcripts, and press cuttings of poetry in free and strict metres, 1893-1903 and 1918?, by William (Gwilym) Morgan, quarryman, of Blaenau Ffestiniog, together with adjudications by [Sir] J[ohn] Morris Jones (press cuttings), [Howell Elvet Lewis] ('Elfed') (transcript), etc. MS. 11064 also contains testimonials, 1901, to William Morgan and Mrs Morgan from Robert Roberts, J. P., surgeon, Blaenau Ffestiniog, the Reverend W[illiam] P[ari] Hughes, Dolgellau, and Wm. Davies, Junior, Managing Partner, The Diphwys Casson Slate Quarries Company, Blaenau Ffestiniog, the first (and presumably the other two) in support of their candidature for the posts of master and matron of Pwllheli Workhouse; and a holograph letter, 1936, from [Humphrey Jones] ('Bryfdir'), Rhiwbryfdir, to [J. W. Jones], enclosing copies of 'in memoriam' verses to Gwilym Morgan. Included in MS. 11065 is a holograph letter, 1899, from Robert Roberts, Blaenau Ffestiniog, to Gwilym Morgan, with observations on 'englynion' in English by the recipient.

A scrap album containing manuscript and printed items, newspaper cuttings, etc., described on the first page as 'Casgliad amrywiol o eiddo Ionawryn Williams [see the preceding manuscript] yn cynnwys engreifftiau o'i ddiddordeb a'i weithgarwch. Ceir ynddo hefyd nodiadau ychwanegol ar rai o Gymry Manceinion . . .' The manuscript material includes a copy of an anonymous election manifesto addressed to the [Manchester] Welsh, denouncing the previous Conservative administration and advocating the return of Messrs. Jacob Bright and John Slagg as [Liberal] members for the city [of Manchester] [?1880]; a holograph letter from Joseph Parry, University College, Cardiff, to Mr. [Ionawryn] Williams, 1899 (reference to the writer's fifth opera King Arthur); a holograph postcard from Owen M[organ] Edwards, Oxford, to Mr. [Ionawryn] Williams, 1898 (acknowledging the receipt of 'englynion' and hymns); poems addressed to Ionawryn Williams at Bethesda [co. Caernarvon] (1900); miscellaneous other poems; a few biographical notes on Manchester Welshmen; etc. The printed items include copies of a prospectus (with order form attached) advertising Ionawryn Williams's forthcoming volume of biographies of Manchester Welshmen [see the preceding manuscript]; a handbill announcing 'A Liberal demonstration of the north east and south east divisions of the county of Lancaster' to be held at Manchester, 24 and 25 October 1879; the rules (with balance sheet and list of members and officials) of the Manchester Welsh National Society (1894-1895); the programme of the same society's activities for the session 1895-1896; menus and programmes in connection with St. David's day celebration dinners in Manchester (1891 and undated); the programme (with rules and list of officials) of the Booth Street East Young People's Literary Society for the session 1869-1870; a commemorative article on Ellis Roberts of Manchester by Ionawryn Williams (extracted from Y Cronicl, July 1893), and a similar article on Ionawryn Williams himself (extracted from Y Cronicl, October 1907). The newspaper cuttings, which form the largest class of insets, are of a varied nature. Most refer to persons and events connected with the Manchester and Salford area from the 1860's to the early twentieth century. They include, inter alia, obituary notices of Welshmen who had some connection with Manchester (e.g., Sir William Roberts, physician, ob. 1899, Professor Thomas Jones, surgeon, ob. in South Africa, 1900), Manchester news items of Welsh interest (e.g., St. David's day celebrations, meetings of Welsh societies, a meeting in connection with Welsh disestablishment in 1883), poems by Ionawryn Williams, and other miscellaneous verse.
