A volume of holograph poetry in strict and free metres by William Pugh, Llanfihangel [probably Llanfihangel yng Ngwynfa, Montgomeryshire]. The titles include '[Awdl] i annerch Griffith Lewis o'r Ty-bach y mhlwyf y Cemmaes Medi 7fed 1821'; 'Englyn L. J. O'r Blue bell Machynlleth'; 'Cerdd Newydd o fawl i Mr. Edward Lloyd o'r Ty'n-twll y mhlwyf Llanfyllin Pregethwr Cynorthwyol gyda Wesleyans ... Ebrill 4ydd 1821'; 'Englyn i Arweinydd Robert Davies o Nantglyn' [i.e., Arweinydd i'r anllythyrenog ..., 4th ed., Dinbych, 1820]; 'Hymn Newydd ... Ionawr 1af 1821'; 'Ychydig o ymddiddanion rhwng Eos wnfa [i.e., Thomas Williams, 'Eos Gwynfa'] a Rhaiadar am Briodi' (mutilated); 'Awdle o fawl i'r Parchedig John Davies Vicar Llanidloes am ei garedigrwydd a'i fedrysrwydd yn golygu dro[s] Ysgolion rhad Mrs. Beavan'; 'Cywydd [recte Awdl] i annerch William Roberts o'r Brynmoel Cemmaes o achos ei ddiogu yn awen-yddi ... Medi 20, 1821'; 'Marwnad David Williams Esqr o'r Gelligoch y'mhlwyf Machynlleth yr hwn ymadawodd a'r bywyd hwn Tachwedd 25 1821, yn 82 oedran'; etc. The following biographical note has been added in pencil at the end of the volume: 'his own writing William Pugh Brynllwydwyn Landowner & Poet about 100 years old, died about 40 years ago he was them [sic] between 80 & 90 years old when he died. The old Poets Owen Trefaldwyn Morris o fon &c used to stay with him'.

A volume containing sermons, with copious deletions and revisions, together with a few hymns. The paper is watermarked 1825.

A commonplace book of Evan Evan ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'), with additions by William John Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd'). The volume contains extracts on the constitutional conflict between King Charles I and Parliament; a list of ratepayers of the parish of Christleton, Cheshire, 1835-6; lists of ecclesiastical impropriations in the dioceses of St Asaph and Bangor; rules of music ('Things prohibited', etc.); orders of the Trustees of Jno. Seller's Charity in Christleton, 1787; poetry by 'Ieuan Glan Geirionydd' ('A mi un diwrnod teg o Vai...') (dated 'Glan Llyn Geirionydd Mai 1853'); lists of benefices in the dioceses of St Asaph and Bangor arranged according to valuation (under £100, above £100 and under £200, etc.); lists of incumbents and 1st and 2nd wardens [of the parish of Ince, Cheshire], 1773-1846 (with gaps); a transcript of a bill of sale, by way of mortgage, of a saddler's stock-in-trade, book debts, household furniture, etc. in Llanrwst, 1871, together with a notice thereof to the bailiff of the county court of Denbighshire held at Llanrwst; gardening and orchard accounts and memoranda and plans of planting, 1843-7 and undated; an undated list of books sent to be rebound and repaired; a mortgage to the Blaenau Festiniog New Benefit Building Society of leasehold property along the road from Festiniog to Rhiwbryfdir, 1861; etc. The insets include an adjudication on 'englynion' by 'Gwilym Cowlyd'; and a transcript of a mortgage of lands in the parish of Gwytherin, Denbighshire, 1873. On the inside upper cover is written in pencil a hymn entitled 'Codiad y Wawr' ('Cydunwn yn awr...'). Watermark: 1826.

A composite volume containing poetical compositions in strict and free metre by, and in the autograph of, Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd'). The wording on the title-page of the first part of the volume is 'Cyfansoddion Barddonol gan Ebenezer Thomas, Clynnog. 1843' but some of the items in the section are later than this date. The remainder of the manuscript appears to consist of two other sections, the one containing miscellaneous poems, some dated, c. 1833-60, the other containing 'Y Cleopiad', 1847, and a number of 'englynion'. Alterations and interlineations have been made in some of the poems. Besides the Welsh poems - many of which, though not all, are included in Gweithiau Barddonol, &c. Eben Fardd [?1873] - the volume contains a few items of English verse. There are also one or two printed items, including a sheet of harvest hymns entitled 'Hymnau Cynauaf' by Ebenezer Thomas, 1843 (Caernarfon: Argraffwyd gan James Rees).

Tune book, first compiled in the late eighteenth century, of the Reverend J. Lloyd, Tal-y-bont, containing psalm-tunes attributed to William Wilson (f. 52), John Williams ('Ioan Rhagfyr', 1740-1821), Dolgellau (ff. 4 verso-6) and others, together with hymn-tunes and anthems, copied between 1790 and 1820, with some accompanying words in English and Welsh. Amongst the tunes is the 'Song of the 3 Holy Children' (f. 46 verso-7). Additions to the original volume include ff. 83-91, written c. 1818-1819 (cf watermark, and f. 89) and ff. 92-7, written c. 1832 (watermark).

A miscellaneous collection of hymn-tunes, psalm-tunes and anthems, most attributed to Welsh composers, probably first compiled in the early nineteenth century but with manuscript and printed additions up to c. 1900 (watermarks 1817 (f. 34), 1825 (f. 59), 1829 (f. 73), 1835 (f. 27); ff. 41, 45 are printed), and including works attributed to John Williams, Dolgellau (ff. 8, 10 verso-12 verso, 40 verso) and Evan Davies, Llanymddyfri (ff. 25 verso-6). Accompanying words, where present, are in Welsh.

A incomplete copy (pp. 9-56 only) of William Owen, Caniedydd Crefyddol, yn cynnwys eglurhad helaeth ar holl egwyddorion caniadaeth grefyddol . . . mewn chwe' gwers (Caerlleon, J. Parry, 1828) bound with a manuscript tune book (ff. 26-45), second quarter of the nineteenth century, containing hymn-tunes and accompanying Welsh words.

Tune book, early nineteenth century, containing hymn-tunes, psalm-tunes and anthems by various composers, including Hugh Jones, Maesglasau (ff. 6 verso-7, 20 verso-1, 39 verso-40 ), David Harries, [Carno] (passim) and John Williams, Dolgellau (passim), apparently first compiled 1804 by the Reverend Richard Richards (1780-1860), Meifod, but partly in the hand of his brother, Lewis Richards (1799-1860, his signature, 1819, on f. 85) and with annotations in the hand of his sister, Mair Richards, Darowen. Accompanying words, where present, are in Welsh.

A copy of John Harris, Grisiau Cerdd Arwest: sef cyfarwyddiadau eglur a hyrwydd at ddysgu peroriaeth (2nd ed., Abertawy, 1825), bound with a substantial manuscript tune book, second quarter of the nineteenth century, containing hymn-tunes and anthems with Welsh titles, some written in the bardic alphabet.

A copy of David Roberts, Gramadeg Cerddorol, yn gynwysedig mewn tair rhan (Bala, 1848), bound with two further sections of printed hymn-tunes and anthems taken from unidentified sources, and followed by a manuscript tune book (ff. 13 verso-40), second half of the nineteenth century, containing hymn-tunes, with some accompanying Welsh words.
