Further Charge of £50 (5%) on premises previously mortgaged by 1 to 2, comprising part of a meadow called Lower Groffield or Grove Field, p. Abergavenny, co. Mon., together with buildings there, as described in no. 383 above. Recites: the original 99 year lease by Baker Gabb of Abergavenny, gent., to 1, dated 10 Jan. 1835; a mortgage of 13 Oct. 1835 (no. 383); that the principal sum of £200 still remains owing to 2; and that 1 has applied to 2 to lend him a further £50, which 2 has agreed to do.

Mon., together with buildings there, as described in no. 383 above, for the residue of 99 years, with Power Of Sale in the event of default of payment; and Assignment of a fire insurance policy for £500 taken out on the stables, coach house and other buildings. Recites: the original 99 year lease by Baker Gabb of Abergavenny, gent., to 1, dated 10 Jan. 1835; a mortgage of 13 Oct. 1835 (no. 383); a further charge on the mortgaged premises, 2 Aug. 1836 (no. 385); that 3 at the request of 2 has paid the £250 owing to 1, but that no assignment has yet been made by 1; that 2 has occasion for a further £300, to be lent to him by 3; that all interest has been paid to date; and that 2 has insured the premises for £500 against loss by fire. Abergavenny, co. Mon. (see no. 383), and the strip of ground comprised in an assignment of 2 Sept. 1837 (see recitals) for the residue of 99 years subject to the payment of rents. Recites: the original 99 year lease by Baker Gabb of Abergavenny, gent., to 1, dated 10 Jan. 1835; a mortgage of 13 Oct. 1835 (no. 383); further charge on the mortgaged premises, 2 Aug. 1836 (no. 384); a 99 year lease, dated 7 April 1835, by B.G. to James Moore of 1386 sq. yds of ground in the Lower Groffield or Grove Field; assignment of all the goods and personal estate of J.M. to trustees with a trust for sale to satisfy his creditors 27 Feb. 1837; assignment of lease by J.M.' s trustees to 2 of a strip of ground of 283 sq. yds in the same place, paying rent to B.G., 2 Sept 1837; assignment 9 Sept. 1837, by 2 to 1 of the land comprised in the original lease of 10 Jan. 1835 and of the strip of 283 sq. yds, subject to the payment of outstanding mortgage debt of £550 and rent; that the mortgage debt and interest of £59 make a total of £609; that 1 is unwilling to pay the mortgage debt and since the mortgaged premises are not of sufficient value to meet the debt, she has agreed to convey the equity of redemption of the first piece of land and assign the second piece to 3, with the consent of 2 upon being released from the obligations of the debt.

Deeds relating to properties at Bryn-mawr, Llangatwg and Llanelli, Breconshire

Deeds for several leasehold properties owned by the Dukes of Beaufort, situated in King Street, Glamorgan Street, Orchard Street and Cemetery Road, Bryn-mawr, in the parishes of Llangatwg and Llanelli, co. Brecon, 1846-1889, endorsed with licences to assign, up to 1895. The properties include several cottages and houses with gardens, some of which were later divided into smaller dwellings, and a stable and coach house. The successive lessees appear to have been mostly tradesmen such as drapers, shoemakers, grocers, publicans, a postmaster, a druggist, William Evans the gas manager, and professionals such as a surgeon and a nonconformist minister. The names of several women appear, usually as executrices of the respective lessees.
