Account Book of Sir Nicholas Williams, entitled 'the Ploughman's shepherd's and Cow-maid's accounts,' being attested acknowledgements by shepherds, dairymen, ploughmen, cowmaids, and other servants of sheep, cattle, and pigs in their custody. Other records preserved in the volume are a list, 18 Dec., 1712, of cattle bought, reared, received as heriots, sold, and lost since June, 1710; accounts of corn in the storehouse at Edwinsford, 17 Dec., 1712, and of butter, 19 Dec., 1712, an agreement, 22 Dec., 1712, with Jenkin Humphrey 'of Cardiganshire' for the construction of an arched cellar; an account of goods (linen, clothing, and kitchen utensils) delivered by Mary Roger to Jonett Lloyd, 12 Jan., 1713?; an agreement, 23 Dec., 1712, with John Wm. Rental of the estate of Thomas Williams in Carmarthenshire, in the collection of Henry Price of the county borough of Carmarthen, gent., 1725, comprising the manor of Penrin and properties in the parish of Merthir, the town of Laugharn, the parishes of Abernant, Midrim, Langunock, Lanstephan, and Lannon, and the county borough of Carmarthen, and of town lands, together with the appointment of the said Henry Price as agent, 15 Sept., 1725; a rental of the estate of Thomas Williams in Langunnock in the collection of Henry rice ('Note this Estate was divided 6 May 1726'); and a rental of the copyhold estate of Thomas Williams in the collection of Thomas Jones of Cwmyglaw, 1729. Endorsed are particulars of fees paid to the auditor, receiver, etc., out of Thomas Williams's office as chamberlain, 24 Oct., 1734; of annual deductions payable out of the Derllis estate; and of the fee (£18) payable annually to Tho. Rental of Mr. Lloyd Williams's share of an undivided estate in Abergwessin, Builth, Cricadarn, Llanganten, Llanvechan, Llanavan, Llangamarch, Llanllenwel, Merthir, and Masemynis, co. Brecknock; together with particulars of allowances for taxes and repairs, of arrears, of payments and disbursements, and of cash paid Mrs. Williams in her lifetime and to Mr. Lloyd Williams to her use and since her deceased to Mr. Thos. Lloyd of Brecon to the use of the said Mr. Williams and to others by his orders, and a statement of account between Mr. Charles Price and the executors of the late Lloyd Williams, esq., deceased. Enclosed are:-. (A) Three letters, 19 Feb., 1740/1, 9 April, 1741, and 23 March, 1741/2, from Cha. Price to Sir Nicolas Williams, Bart., M.P., at Mr. Rogers's in Southampton Street, Covent Garden, London, touching the recipient's 'giving up' of the estate of the late Mr. Lloyd Williams in Brecknockshire to Mr. Evans of Pennant, and the latter's claims to arrears of rent. (B) An undated list of rent deductions, and the reasons for the same.

Receipts to Thomas Williams, Edwinsford, 9 Oct., 1745-29 Sept., 1755, for payments in respect of the funeral expenses of Sir Nicholas Williams and legacies bequeathed by him to members of his staff; wages and salaries of staff; craftsmen's accounts (e.g. carpenter, tailor, tiler, smith, glazier); poor rate, church rate, land tax, and/or county stock for the rectory of Cayo, the rectory of Llansawell, the demesne of Edwinsford, and a mill and vacant tenements at Talley; chief rent for Edwinsford demesne and Garreg Llwyd; taking out tithes; storehouse room, porterage, and cellaring; coal and lime; milking of sheep; etc. Most of the earlier payments were made by Thomas Williams in his office of executor to Sir Nicholas Williams, and much of the volume is in the hand of Richard Davies [of Bryn Gwyn], steward.

Housekeeping Accounts consisting of :-,

(A) records of weekly payments, 1763-91, in respect of a wide variety of purchases, such as meat, fish, poultry, eggs, oysters, rabbits, hares, butter, sugar, tea, fruit, salt, flour, tallow, pots and pans, ink, paper, and for washing, carriage of goods, journies to Carmarthen, etc., weaving of blankets and rugs, taking of kites, nests, and to the fiddler, etc. The housekeepers recorded in the volume include Mary Lake, Mariemna Jones, Mary Harris, Margaret Dalton, Mary Jones, and M. Edwards. Some of the accounts, and records of weekly settlements with the housekeepers, are in the hand of B. Hodgkinson. (B) 'House Book' or records of similar payments by Daniel Price, 1807-12. Enclosed is an incomplete statement of account, settled on 31 Oct., 1782, between Robert Banks Hodgkinson, Esq., and the estate, including particulars for the period 1781-2 of payments to tradesmen and labourers, disbursements 'about the farm', expenses at Edwinsford, money paid R.B. Hodgkinson and to his order, money received for 'various Things from the Farm', and one year's rental of the estate and rental of the tithe.
