A scrap-book of John Lloyd James (Clwydwenfro), Congregational minister at March, Cambridgeshire, etc. The volume was compiled during the period 1856-1884 and consists largely of original poetry and a few translations by 'Clwydwenfro', in the form of holograph copies, printed sheets, and press cuttings. Miscellanea, including incomplete adjudications by Owen Jones on essays on the antiquities of the vale of Conway ('Henafiaethau Dyffryn Conway'), the foundation of Maenan Abbey ('Sefydliad Mynachlog Maenan'), etc.; the Elementary Certificate of the Tonic Sol-fa College awarded to William Rowland Williams, 1889 (the signatures include that of David Jenkins, examiner); a typescript copy of a poem in Welsh on the secession of Edward Stephen ('Tanymarian') to the Tory Party in 1874, with an accompanying note by R. D. Roberts, Bethesda, Caernarvonshire, to the effect that the verses were printed on the back of a postcard addressed to W. J. Parry, Bethesda, in 1877; mounted cuttings from The North Wales Chronicle, 19 October, 1934, of a report by R. D. Roberts on 'Two Gold Half Nobles of Richard II ... found in Caernarvonshire' [the one at Llanfairfechan and the other at Gerlan, Bethesda], together with manuscript notes by the author; and a typescript copy of verses by A. S. Hamilton, Union Bay, British Columbia, entitled 'Little Dyvie' [i.e. David Lloyd George, O.M., M.P.], printed in a Canadian newspaper during the Great War (1914-1918).

An incomplete volume of free- and strict-metre poetry in the hand of, and largely by, David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri') of Waunfawr, Caernarvonshire. The dated poems belong to the years 1782-1785, 1800, and 1808. Among the titles are: 'Can a gyfansoddwyd yn Niwedd y Gauaf 1783 Sef Gwahoddiad ir Prydyddion ddyfod ir Bettws bach Noswyl Fair'; 'Penill i Ferch Iefangc' and 'Y Ferch yn Atteb' by J. Parry, 1783; 'Cyngor i Ddafydd Thomas Waen fawr Briodi 1783' by John Jones, Cae Dronw, and 'Atteb, ir Gan flaenorol'; 'Cywydd Annerch ir Godidog Fardd Jonathan Hughes', with a reply, 1782 (incomplete); 'Englynion, a gyfansoddwyd 20 o Chwefr. 1784. 'A Collection of Welsh Pennillion, etc.', in the hand of Richard Williams, Denbigh, 10 November, 1814, containing 'penillion telyn', 'englynion', and extracts from 'cywyddau' by Siôn Brwynog, Wiliam Llŷn, Goronwy Owen, Lewis Morris ('Llywelyn Ddu o Fôn'), Robert Davies ('Bardd Nantglyn'), John Jones ('Jac Glanygors'), and John Cain Jones ('Siôn Ceiriog'). Among the titles are '3 Englyns written in Peblig Churchyard', 'Englynion i Gorph y gaingc', and 'Englyn in praise of West in the Denbigh Election 1820' (with a reply).
