Papers of the Stepney family of Prendergast, Pembrokeshire, and Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, mainly deeds relating to their estates in those counties, 1541-1787, including deeds concerning the working of coal in the Llanelli area of Carmarthenshire in the 17th-18th centuries; and family and business letters, 1706-1829, of the Stepney family including letters relating to the trading enterprises of Sir Thomas Stepney, seventh baronet, 1749-1767, which include letters from the masters of his ships, from other business firms, and from his agents in the main seaports of Wales and England as well as at continental centres of trade, such as Brest and Lisbon. Despite its title, there are no papers relating to the Cilymaenllwyd estate.

Assignment of the lease of Llangwithvane (No. 95 dated 24 July 1735) for the remainder of its term. In consideration of the assignment, the said Elizabeth Samuel will provide for and support the said Ann Pritchard with food, lodging, and clothing during her lifetime. English.

  1. Elizabeth Lloyd, widow and relict of Thomas Lloyd late of Derwith in the county of Carmarthen esquire;. 2. Thomas Pritchard of the parish of Landebye in the same county, yeoman. Lease for the term of the natural lives of the said Thomas Pritchard, Rebecka Pritchard, and Anne Pritchard his daughters, of a messuage called Langwit vane except three fields called clothie wr dwr, cae da Llowd, and cae dda Hwllo, lying in the parish of Landebye. The annual rent is thirty one pounds to be paid at specified terms, one pound and one shilling in lieu of a heriot, one shilling at Michaelmas or carrying two horse-loads of coal to the capital messuage of the said Elizabeth Lloyd called Deriwth, two pullets at Christmas or one shilling in lieu thereof, and all chief rents, rates, and tanes charged upon the said premises. The endorsement recites an agreement made between the same parties on 14 July 1751 by which Elizabeth Pritchard takes Cadahoolls and Cadalwyd jointly with Langwith vane at a yearly rent of five pounds five shillings as from Michaelmas last past.

Bargain And Sale of the lease of the messuage and lands called Llangwithfane, excepting three fields called Cloddie wr dwr, Cae da llwyd, and cae Da Hwllo, lying in the parish of Llandebye, in consideration of a payment of the sum of ten shillings and an annuity of seven pounds three shillings for the term of the natural life of Ann Pritchard and the said Elizabeth Samuel. This lease recites:-. [1] The original lease dated 24 July 1735 between Elizabeth Lloyd and Thomas Pritchard for the term of three lives. (No 95). [2] Bargain and sale of the lease by an indenture dated 20 November 1778 between Ann Pritchard, heir of the said Thomas Pritchard, and the said Elizabeth Samuel. (No 98). [3] That the said Dame Elizabeth Stepney is the heir of the said Elizabeth Lloyd. English.
