An imperfect and badly mutilated volume containing sermons, some of which are transcribed from Edward James: Pregethau a osodwyd allan trwy awdurdod i'w darllein vmhob Eglwys blwyf ... An imperfect manuscript: of the original manuscript (see note on number of folios) thirty-two folios at the beginning (as per a previous foliation ) ? containing poems numbered 1-28 and part of poem 29, numerous mid- volume folios, and an indeterminate number of folios at the end appear to have been lost. pp. 1-178 (excepting p. 176 and later insertions) are in the hand of the Glamorgan poet and copyist Llywelyn Siôn, the scribe of NLW MSS 970E, 6511B, and 13075-13076B (see TLLM, tt. 157-60). The greater part of the remainder of the volume appears to be in a later seventeenth century hand or hands. The contents consist of transcripts of Welsh poems in free and strict metres, the free-metre verse being largely in the form of 'cwndidau' (see TLLM, tt. 120-43). Included is a corpus of poems by the sixteenth century Glamorgan poets Thomas ap Ieuan ap Rys (25) and Hopgin Thom[as] Phylip (22). Davies containing a transcript of 'Hanes Arthur brenin y Brython' from Peniarth MS 215, with an incomplete transcript from NLW MS 1 and a covering letter in the hand of Egerton Phillimore, Corris, 1923 (see J. H. A copy of Charles Ashton: Gweithiau Iolo Goch gyda nodiadau hanesyddol a beirniadol (Croesoswallt, 1896), with annotations, some if not all by J. H. Davies. Inside the volume is a notebook probably in the autograph of Charles Ashton containing a list of the poems of Iolo Goch, with particulars of sources, etc., a shorter list in the autograph of D. Silvan Evans with a reference to a manuscript (then at Llanwrin, now Cwrtmawr MS 325) in the autograph of Wiliam Henri [sic] Mounsey, 1859, and a letter, [19]22, from Henry Lewis, Swansea to Principal [J. H.] Davies.

A scrap-book compiled by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') containing poetry in strict and free metres by poets from Caernarfonshire. A transcript of a collection of poetical meditations, prayers, psalms, and 'cywyddau', composed by Humphrey David ab Evan, sexton of Llanbryn-Mair, about 1637 to 1644; with a few 'cywyddau' by Siôn Phylip, William Phylip, and Doctor Siôn Kent, and 'englynion' by William Cynwal and Hugh Machno. The statement in David Williams: Cofiant Cynddelw, p. 684, that the greater part of the volume is in the author's own hand is incorrect.

A volume in the hand of D. Silvan Evans containing 'awdlau' and 'cywyddau' by Wiliam Lleyn. The transcripts were made c. 1869 and appear to be taken from more than one source, e.g. a manuscript of Paul Panton, 1779, and a manuscript of W. H. Mounsey based on a manuscript in the hand of [Owen Jones] 'Owen Myfyr'. At the end are 'Tri o'r Chwe Englyn a ddywedir i Ddafydd ab Gwilym wneuthur ar ei Glaf-wely' transcribed by D. Silvan Evans from a manuscript in the hand of ?D[avid] Ellis [Cricieth]. Beginning at the end are three pages of notes on 'Matter'.

Material (text, vocabulary, and notes) collected by Tom Matthews for a second volume of 'Gwaith Iolo Goch' in continuation of Gwaith Iolo Goch printed in 'Cyfres y Fil', Llanuwchllyn, 1915.

A composite volume written almost entirely in the autograph of Evan Prichard ('Ieuan Lleyn' or 'Bardd Bryncroes'; 1769-1832), with some additions by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). The volume is in two parts, the first part (pp. 1-198) containing poetry mainly by Ieuan Lleyn, with some items also by John Jones, Glan y Gors (beginning wanting), R. Ll. Ddu, Cyllidydd, Pwllheli, 1821, Morrus Dwyfech alias Morrus ab Ifan ab Einion, Owen Gruffydd, Thomas Glyn Llifon, Rich[ar]d Hughes, Cadwaladr Cesail, Sion Roger, D. Drefriw and G. Felyn, y Parchedig Evan Evans 'Ieuan Brydydd Hir', Rod. Jones y Crydd, Dafydd Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri'), Rhobyn or Bettws [Robert Williams ('Robert ap Gwilym Ddu')], W[illia]m Llyn, W[illia]m Thomas y Llongwr, Ebeneser Tomas neu Cybi Eifion, [David Owen] 'Dewi Wyn', and [John Roberts ] 'S[ion] Lleyn'. Other items in the first part include a draft of a letter, undated, from Evan Pr[ichard] [i.e. 'Ieuan Lleyn'] to an unnamed correspondent (p. 89) (a request for [the mastership of] the free school belonging to the parishes of Rhiw, Bryncroes, Aberdaron and Llanfaelrhys if W[illia]m Owen is turned out), a (?)copy of a letter, 1791, from Ieuan Rich[ar]d, Ty Mawr to an unnamed correspondent whom he addresses as 'Enwog Fardd' (p. 95) (he was unable to attend the Eisteddfod held at Llanrwst; verse in strict and free metre), a (?)translation of a speech by Mr Hodgins [sic], an operative cotton spinner, respecting the Combination Laws, and a speech in Welsh on freedom ('From Walter Davies's Essay [Rhyddid (1791) ]'). The pages following (i.e. 191-8) appear to be in the autograph of John Roberts ('Siôn Lleyn'). Between part I and part II are some items (press cuttings, poetry, etc.) inserted by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), including 'Gwaith Siarl Marc'. Preceding a number of blank pages are two letters from Ieuan Lleyn to Siôn Lleyn, the one undated (?copy), the other written in 1791 from Ty Mawr to Mr John Roberts at Rhyd y clafrdy, Lleyn, containing lines in the 'cywydd' metre by 'Ieuan Fardd Bryncroes' (another of the bardic names used by Ieuan Lleyn). Part II is in three sections, the first consisting of 90 pp. and containing poetry by Gronwy Ddu o Fôn, Robert ab Gwilym [Robert Williams ('Robert ap Gwilym Ddu')], Llanystumdwy, Hywel ab Reinallt, Hywel ab Daf. ab Ieuan ab Rhys, W[illia]m Lleyn, Rhys Llwyd ab Rhys ab Ricart, Deio ab Ieuan Du, Tudur Aled, H. ab O. Gwynedd, John Fychan o Gaergai, Thomas Llwyd or penman, M.D.(qr. Part IIb comprises 38 pp. and contains poetry by Ieuan Lleyn, Huw Ifan Gynt o Lanllyfni alias Hywel Eryri, y Parchedig Evan Evans alias Ieuan y Prydydd hir and W[illiam Evans or Fedw arian, preceded by a list of contents. The final section (pp. 11-54) contains poetry by Siôn Dafydd Laes (John Davies alias Penllyn), Lewis Owain o Dyddyn y Garreg, Syr Rhys or Drewenn, Gutto Glynn, S[ion] Tud[ur], D. A copy of Rhys Jones (ed.): Gorchestion Beirdd Cymru ... (Amwythig, 1773), with copious late eighteenth century manuscript additions entered partly in the margin and partly (largely) on bound-in leaves at the beginning and the end. The majority of the additions are in the hand of Jacob Jones, recipient of the volume (see note, below). A manuscript volume with the word 'GOGYNVEIRDD' on the spine, and containing a collection of transcripts made by William Owen [-Pughe] of Gogynfeirdd poetry, all published in The Myvyrian Archaiology of Wales..., Vol. 1, (London, 1801), pp. 189-216, 258-62, 265-8, 275-8 and 354, although not in the same order. The poets whose works are represented in the manuscript are: Meilyr Brydydd, Gwalchmai ab Meilyr, Hywel ab Owain Gwynedd, Owain Cyfeiliog and Cynddelw Brydydd Mawr. The manuscript contains numerous footnotes which give variant readings as well as a few explanatory notes on the text. The footnotes contain references to the following sources 'MS.', 'Dr. T. Williams MS.' / 'T.W.', 'V.R.', and 'Ll. Du.' [= 'Llyfr Du Caerfyrddin'].

A volume of poetry in strict and free metre in the autograph of John Roberts ('Siôn Lleyn') entitled 'Gemmau yr Awen sef Casgliad o Waith John ab Robert Neu Siôn Lleyn 1783' and described by him as 'Gwaith boreu fy oes, tra anmherffaith a llawer wedy ei Adsgrif o hono ai Drwsiau - pasiwch heibio ir gwallau yw Dymuniad J. Roberts'. Other poets represented are Walter Davies, Robert Prichard, Melin Sôch ('Robin 'r Aber'), J. This manuscript is the source of the text of Series I of the Triads in the Myvyrian Archaiology Vol. ii, pp. 1-22. The englynion at ff. 119-122b are practically the same as those in Myvyrian Archaiology, pp. 543-547, col. i, but that the arrangement is different. The text at f. 132 was copied in September 1758 from an autograph manuscript of Edward Lhuyd. The text at f. 154 verso was transcribed from Llyfr Coch Nannau (see Mostyn MS 144) 'and collated it with my brother Lewis Morris MSS'.

A volume originally used fairly extensively by Thomas Richards, Darowen as a rentroll of tithes set in the parish of Darowen, 1824-31. Beginning at the end, also in the hand of Thomas Richards, are a note from the Shrewsbury Chronicle, 1829, on the 'Rearing of Apple Trees'; medical, veterinary and household recipes; and accounts of receipts and disbursements (tithes, road rates, rents, etc.) of Thomas Richards, 1827-31. The remainder of the volume was used by Mary Richards, circa 1850-4, to record transcripts of a list of books in the library of Thomas Richards, Darowen; letters from Evan Richards to Thomas Richard[s], curate of Eglwys fach, near Dovy furnace, undated (religious meditations, a pocket Bible), Ch. Meyer, Llanrhaiadr [ym Mochnant], to T[homas] Richards, Llangynyw, undated (news of W. Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'], an invitation to the recipient and Arthur [James] John[e]s), Thos Jones, L[eintwar]dine [aft. of Creaton], to Thos. One of the sources quoted by Mary Richards is a manuscript of Sir Thomas Llwyd, 'Person Cemes, Sir Drefaldwyn'. The outside upper cover is inscribed '1825 Tithe Book'.
